Dukes won't return for spring

Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien confirmed on Monday that reserve junior running back Curtis Dukes will not return to the team in spring. Dukes played sparingly for the Nittany Lions during his junior year.

"Curtis Dukes don't be here… He won't be here," he confirmed. "Right now that's the one that I know of."

Dukes played in nine games in 2012, carrying 26 times for 98 yards. His lone start came against Navy in September, but his playing time on offense decreased as leading rusher Zach Zwinak assumed the starting role.

The Evans Mills, N.Y., native played mostly on special teams and missed the final three games of the season after suffering a concussion against Purdue in November.

Dukes was third on the team in rushing in 2011, carrying 41 times for 237 yards and a touchdown.
