Kersey no longer with team

Penn State junior wide receiver Shawney Kersey has left the team, sources confirmed Tuesday to Lions247.

The 6-foot-1, 197-pound Kersey, of Woodbury, N.J., was third on the squad with six catches for 44 yards and started both of Penn State's first two games. He was Penn State's most experienced returning receiver heading into the season, with six career catches, but had left the team and come back on more than one occasion earlier in his career for personal reasons.

True freshmen Trevor Williams and Eugene Lewis are among the Nittany Lions likely to receive increased snaps in Kersey's absence.
