tOSU got their Qb

  • JT Barrett.

Regardless of our hate for them... OSU, Psu and Michigan all have bright futures in CFB.

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

  • Couldn't have put this in the "other team recruiting" thread, could you, 13?

Just messing. Big pickup for OSU, good QB. They've also got a top 2014 QB in Drew Barker visiting for their spring game.

Haven't been following that thread to be honest.

  • He looks like Troy Smith.

  • Eh. Kid has decent offers. I wouldn't be shocked if he never plays QB for Meyer.

Are you kidding ? High level quarterbacks ranked 37 in the country have better offers than Baylor, KSU and Arizona in mid-April.

Kid is a great athlete. He's a project at QB. I can easily see this kid becoming a CB or reciever in a couple of years.

He's a dual threat QBs and Texas already landed their Qb.

Good point. Because no one else recruits the state of Texas.

High level quarterbacks have offers from everyone, especially if they wait this long to commit. And especially if you come from Texas, where exposure is high.

I am not an expert in film evaluation (and neither are you). The experts (the coaches around the country) clearly didn't see this kid as being a high level QB.

Like I said, he's a great athlete. But he's a project. I wouldn't be surprised if he moves to reciever or gets beaten out by someone else when his time comes. I watched the film, and I'm far from impressed by his throwing ability.

I was actually surprised by his throwing ability and throwing motion. It's not like Meyer runs a 5 wide pass attack. He needs a running Qb.

  • Lefty I believe they only said they would offer after seeing him throw in person. Idk if that happened, but that was the original plan. And like 13to said, its Meyers offense. No one was impressed watching Tebow throw either but the route tree and system help make his numbers look good.

Wait, I thought every Athlete / WR they are recruiting is the "Next Percy Harvin"?

Every TE is the "Next Aaron Hernandez"

And so on and so forth...

I do think projecting some of these dual threat guys at the next level is difficult, but he did have LSU and Nebraska offers . . . nothing to sneeze at if you are a running QB. He also got an Elite 11 invite and we know that OSU had this guy rated higher than home-stater Malik Zaire, as Zaire left without a committable offer when he visited. Hence, the reason Zaire committed to ND.

Tebow was a good enough throwing QB to make it into the NFL. He wasn't a Barkley or Luck, but he was capable. Far more advanced than people give him credit for now, looking back from today and his struggles in the league. He was more than just a proficient throwing quarterback at UF. He was quite good.

Tebow was a five star, all-World QB coming out of HS with offers from everyone. He had a ton of ability as a passer.

Meyer has NEVER won without a strong throwing QB. Ever. Alex Smith ? Dude was the #1 overall pick. Tebow ? First round draft pick, and I've already explained that he was a strong thrower at the college level. Leak ? Dude was not a runner, but was an adequate passer.

I stand by the sentiments I've shared in this thread.

  • He was a strong thrower because the system he was in. And I was telling you that the OSU staff had originally planned to see him in person to make ssure they could work with the kid. So take it for what its worth. I certainly didnt disagree with you, but thank the Lord you're firm in your statements. Lol.

I was under the impression Barrett was the only QB who could commit without coming to throw. I know they wanted Bailey to throw first, or am I getting the two mixed up? cheers

You have it correct. Barrett was the OSU staff's top target at QB and was the only one who didn't have to camp to commit.

We're pretty excited about him. Also, his final two were OSU and LSU, so the folks asking about offer lists should know that a bunch of good schools were after him.

With Bailey likely to end up at Nebraska, that puts the Big Four in the Big Ten (OSU, PSU, Nebraska, That Team Up North) with top notch QB kids already.

Wouldnt mind at all if the BIG goes on a lil SEC type run in MNC's.

Bailey to UI. its a lock, why would he ever leave the state? MNC coming to Illinois, thats a lock.
