only 6 more to go

  • We should add 6 more to get us 20 teams, big ten east and big ten west.

While anything is possible, the 20-team conf. is highly improbable.

The conference shuffling will stabilize at four 16-team Super Conferences.

ND will need to commit ALL of their sports to a single conference before too long, or else they're are going to lose out in the long run. That Conf. affiliation for ND will not be the ACC.

  • For a conference of 20 we could use 5 team PODs. The final 6 teams in are UVA, VT, UNC, GT, BC and Duke. 4 pods are...

    1) PSU, Rutgers, BC, MD, Wisky (sorry Wisky)
    2) UVA, VT, Duke, GT, UNC
    3) OSU, Mich, MSU, Ind, Pur
    4) Neb, Iowa, Minn, Ill, NW

Rotate pods each year to make two divisions. 9 in conference games with 0 cross-overs.

    It is possible!

  • 20 teams could be set up as 4 -5 team divisions that rotate who what divisions they play every 2 years. You then have 2 conference semi-final games and a conference championship. The conference champion then goes into the 4 team national champion tournament.

We need 4 conferences of 20, there is your 16 team playoff.

  • 14 is a perfect number for the BIG. It shouldn't go any deeper than this.

There are few fits left out there really. UVA is the only one that would interest me.

  • I can see where this is all going. We're going to end up with 6 Super Conferences with 16 teams in each. Then these super conferences will kick the BCS aside and set up a postseason "exhibition" tournament to enrich themselves.

Take the six champions and two at-large teams and you have a nice little three-week playoff system. First round played on the home field of the top four seeds. Semi-finals in a regional city like Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, or San Fransisco. Then play the championship game in a neutral site like Miami, New Orleans, Tempe, or Pasadena.

Give it ten years and that's where we'll be.
