The recruiting strategy and level of talent that those programs brought in lead to getting elite players with the clear goal of making the NFL. Getting paid to play football was easily the top priority and when that option presents itself, of course they are going to take it.
Having said that, 9 is a crazy number. just having 9 guys in the draft is pretty good for a school let alone 9 underclassmen.
