  • Here's the problem with the protocol argument.......The protocol was that everyone reported to Joe, EVERYONE. Joe called all the shots, and if you disagree with that then Santa Clause is coming down your chimney tonight to drop off some mid-summer presents.

I don't question MM being a coward and being guilty in all of this as well.

But by your logic Hitler's parents are to blame for his eventual conception. Because had they just not procreated you wouldn't have had WW2.

We are talking about Joe. Joe received the information and sat on it 'till Monday because I guess that's just the "humane" thing to do.

Joe didn't actually wait until Monday. But that story was obviously something he came up with to damage control what he knew was a non response.

My opinion is right and if you disagree, then you obviously are stupid.

Is that seriously how we're arguing now?

Lubrano specifically gave examples where Spanier and others went against what Joe wanted. For example, joining in on the Big Ten Network. Other one was where to build the baseball stadium.

I think it's reasonable to say that Joe had more power than some typical football coaches. But come on...to say that EVERYONE reported to Joe? That's just a stupid statement. Are you saying the dean of the libraries reported to Joe too? Get out of here.

And last I checked, we've talked about the whole situation MANY times before. Why are we talking about this? The OP was about academics, not about Joe's reporting/lack of reporting, protocol, etc.

Yes, honor a man who turned a blind eye to child molestation and helped sweep it under the rug and then lies about it and was more worried about ruining his bosses weekend. What a man to honor. It's funny to see people blast Redd as a coward and saying tough times and situations define a man and his leadership and then support Joe and want to honor him.

    Good to see you Toby.

Heres a good question for u guys. Let's say joepa did everything appropriately. What kind of effed town is state college? Seriously u report child rape to the authorities and it's not a big deal?

Actually, the people of SC put Sandusky in jail for 374 years. Knock it off.

And if you really want to find the person responsible, ask the Attorney General who didn't pursue the case in 1998. You know, Gov. Corbett.

Hoping to avoid a big debate, but my understanding is as follows:

Gricar was the DA. Corbett was PA Attorney General from 1995-97. Then again between 2005-11.

    46th Attorney General of Pennsylvania
    January 18, 2005[1] – January 18, 2011
    October 3, 1995 – January 22, 1997

After @ least a decade of? That was first reported when? 45 lives ruined @ minimum? Do u have a # 4 that? Now throw in their parents and siblings. Then about another 3% of psu fans, athletes and students that actually care about the victims more then joepa and/or sanctions and give me a #.

You can believe what you want. Were there some decisions the bean counters made that Joe didn't like? Sure. But let's be real about who was in charge. How did Curley make out when he went to fire Joe at his house? I'm not saying Joe was worse than Curley, Spanier, and Shultz, but he was every bit as culpable and people here continue to defend Joe while crucifying the others.

Not sure what your point is. Mine is that there is a problem throughout our society with regard to child abuse and what happened at Penn State is unfortunately not unique. It just happened to be the second most high profile case in our lifetimes (after the Catholic church).

Everyone I have spoken to cares more about the victims than any of it. Terrible thing and who wouldnt be saddened by it. However, one can care about the victims and not talk about only that. And God forbid that on a football message board football is discussed. Lord above what a crime! One can also look for the truth rather than much of the creation that is presented as fact, and still care about the victims. One can discuss the sanctions and still feel for the victims. If you are incapable of dealing with multiple thoughts and emotions, dont take out your shortcomings on others. Its not becoming.

What does this have to do with ANYTHING that was said itt? Ignoring the fact that it doesn't even make sense comparing a lb to a rb, let alone a future HOFer to a 20yo college player, there isn't a post in here that could even plausibly be misconstrued as stating Redd is a better player than RL.

Wtf is the point of your post??

That's the story everyone falls back on when they want to show that Joe had "ultimate power."

And it's absolute BS. The only thing that story tells us is that Joe had leverage. You're seriously using that one thing to say that everyone reported to Joe? That's a pretty big leap in logic.

Funny how you dismiss some MAJOR decisions, ones that were very relevant to football, as just "some decisions the bean counters made that Joe didn't like," and then you use one story as the entire backing that EVERYONE reported to Joe. Leverage does not equal ultimate power.
