My favorite SEC coaches for this job -
1. Saban - Loves Joe, and has constantly been quoted as having tremendous respect for the PSU program & it's record of consistent results "the right way (present scandal aside)." Would certainly make the PSU / Bama rivalry more interesting. Not sure I could leave my house with PSU gear on living 80 miles from the AL border in Nashville.
2. Richt - Classy guy. UGA fans are difficult bastards, for Richt to last this long is a testament to him. To me, underachieving likely attributed to UGA not over-signing. 10 years of sustained championships points to cheating in an 85 scholarship world. His big adjustment would be moving north, but he'd do a good job installing a talented offense. LJ / Vandy may actually work for the guy.
3. Franklin - Higher risk, but really an awesome high energy POSITIVE guy. Years of relationships in our recruiting area, plus good in-roads in the South sprouting via Vandy time. Really cares about the kids - really. A program builder; academics are very important to him. He is the SEC version of Fitzgerald, with awesome MidAtlantic ties.
4. Petrino - He'd win games. Not the ideal guy to re-establish PSU brand IMO - but he'd probably work for.
5. Mullen - I simply don't get a good feeling from this guy when I hear him speak. More about him than the players; just my gut. If he were so good, Florida and possibly Miami would have given him a shot. I think he can win football games, but I'm highly skeptical of his ability to lead us thru these times.

That's true. Saban is not perfect. But he is the best out there today. Has immense respect for PSU and Joe, and B1G experience. Obviously can handle the stage. He's a top 3 coach in football, and he beat Meyer consistently over UM's last 2 seasons.

Look at his players / teams. Do you see a disciplined team? Do they represent themselves well in interviews & on the field? Does he dominate UM? Does he have the ability to handle the weight of the school? Saban sets the standard these days, it is true that he oversigns at Bama.
Nick Saban : Dan Mullen
Lombardi : Rich Kotite

Not calling Saban anything less than the best coach in college football, and would like him to come here. Though I would expect him to act like he belongs in the B1G. I also think he is a much better hire than Dan Mullen, there is no doubt there.
Mostly calling your reasoning skills bull. As they have been the whole time.

Damn didn;t know Penn State thought he was a jerk and didn't want him. Missed that memo. I'll take an arrogant guy as a coach any day, you have to be one to be successful. Every coach has a big ego, every last one of em. Except for Tony Dungy, I haven't seen one that isn't outwardly egotistical to some degree and successful. Not to mention I went on a mini web surfing adventure to look at interviews of Mullen because you are such an expert on his attitude, and I disagree. Not much more of a jerk than anyone else.
