Would like to say penn state fans are first class.

  • I like to say as a u of Maryland fan your fan base over the last 18 months had to go through alot of unfair bashing and hate. Penn state fans had nothing to do with any of that. It wasn't fair watching people go up to perfect strangers and harassing them. Just because they had on Penn state gear. And I think we all know who the bad guys were in this story. And it wasn't State fans. That game vs Wisconsin I thing was pure class. And yeah alot of people hate the way Joe Pa handled it. But he did 98% good for this world. So lets not remember him for this. Yes it was a terrible crime, with many victims. But I still believe in Penn state. 99% of the times I ran into a Penn state fan in the Dc area it was pure class.

Saddest thing I saw was when one of my neighbors had to.remove her Penn state flag. I guess either because she was getting harassed or just ashamed. Just talking about it get me chocked up.
Basically my moral of the story is. Penn state don't have to carry the guilt of this. And your good people. And I bet Joe Pa is in heaven looking down. In his shirt and tie.
Its not fair. ITS SO NOT FAIR.

  • I wear my PSU clothing daily. I have done nothing wrong and I walk with my head held high. I did not graduate from PSU but from a small state college in NJ. I joined the Nittany Lion Club many years and became an Associate Alumni member afterwards. I will ALWAYS support an institution that educates individuals who want to learn. If someone is offended by my PSU clothing, so be it, but I will always walk with my head held high with dignity.

  • Nice post Terps. While it is great that there are people like you out there who are capable of independent thought, this whole thing has jaded me on how much group-think there is in our society, and our media.

  • If I were a Penn state fan..i would just focus on keeping been a good person and focusing on the football team. Forget all the out siders. Let the past be the past O'Brien seems like very good coach.

  • Wish I could have kept being the bigger man. My buddies and I got into a brawl when I was living in Arlington because some UVA alums thought it'd be funny to call us pedophiles at a pregame...

It's always nice to know some ppl can see the situation for what it actually is.

  • Thank you for the good words TerpsSoccer. I have lived in Maryland for 9 years and the only issues from rival fans have been centered on 1 OSU fan and 1 UMD fan. The UMD fan is civil and basically a comedian. Since I'm surrounded by UMD fans, that really says something about OSU fans. #BullseyeOnTheStereotype

  • I mean if this had happened at maryland, .And Random people started making fun of me as a Terp fan. i would be pissed too ,so i understand reacting with a forceful way. But at the end of the day. The media hype about it is over.new , fresh coaching stuff. Recruits still want to go to Penn state. the bad guy send up in jail. and everyone can move up and pray for the victims.

  • I just feel like Joe Pa got a fair send off by his family , and by Penn state fans and the ex Penn state players.

But i feel like he didnt get a fair send off By the Media. Espn I feel like because He was mature in age and wasnt fully aware of it all i guess to put it in a nice way, the espn, tv media, sports media took it like he didnt care. Or he didnt understand the level of importance of it.
But i felt something in my heart yesterday when i was browsing throught teams. Something moved me to write this thread. And i know that if Gray Williams was dying and people where attacking him. Man that would break me into pieces. So i feel for you penn state nation fans. i feel for Joe Pas family. And this sunday am given Joe Pa a 100% sports nation send off.

the #1 Coach in heaven. R.I.P even though the media doesnt want you too, Sports fans all over the nation and world too, you can rest now Joe Pa.

  • Thanks for the kind words . The one thing about this whole thing that pisses me off is people want to poke fun at something that is no joking matter . Being a father myself that has a young son involved in football, I hope that I or anyone on this board will ever have to think about what we would do . A friend of mine went on facebook and wanted to poke fun at psu and joe pa, I simply went off and asked him why is this a laughing matter of funny . This is about kids and I will always be a penn state fan and anyone that pokes fun or anything else , needs to do a self evaluation . Sorry to rant but I've heard enough from espn and others about how we as penn state should be ashamed . Great post terps .. We are and always will be .... Penn state ...

As both a Nittany Lion (undergrad) and a Terp (grad school), there was so much awesome in reading this. Thank you, TerpsSoccer. I still wear PSU "gear" as much as I ever have, but unfortunately today when I put it on, part of me feels like I'm doing it to prove something. I'm looking forward to the day when I don't have that feeling any longer.

  • After going to the "joe that we know" showing in Baltimore, I think the incident has brought the fanbase closer together which was much needed bc it started becoming joe apologists vs joe must goers the past decade... Seems everyone has rallied behind BOB who seems like a great rep for the university

Thanks so much for the kind words.

I can understand where people get their opinions on JoePa and whatnot from the media, so it doesn't bother me so much what they say concerning him. What does bother me is the way they attack the fans, the alumni, and the students who had as much to do with it as anyone else in the world. It's often not fair what I have to deal with from people as if I'm a pedophile just because I go to school at PSU. That week in November was probably the most difficult week of my life, and I've been forever changed by it. I'm glad to know that some people can think and act rationally about the situation. Even a simple message like this is hugely appreciated by someone like myself.

  • Again i didnt make this thread to try and turn sports coaches into Saints or anything. I just fell like let this man rest right. and thats why we have courts and law and order for to deal with all that legal stuff. and this thread has been an eye opening experience to me. Sports can heal people sports can be powerful it can bring people together.Look at the south with racism and this whites one place, black in the other, their days in the 40, s 50,s 60 s. I bet were the only times you could see whites and blacks together having a good time was in the stadiums. Thats how powerful sports can be, so we need to use it for the good and not try and make penn state look bad. And i think its alittle bit of Karma that Ohio state lost a big time recruit because he took a picture with a S/O. Osu fans were some of the rudest meanest peopel to psu at that time. And they need to sit back and take their heads out of their tails. because serious OSU is really not that important in grand scheme of things. When Diggs commited to Us in feb. They came on out board harass us, and they even harassed Diggs on twitter. They are bad fans, and they represent everything that's wrong with college sports. Not all OSU fans are like that, but 1 bad tire is enough to crash a car.

  • Well the trial has started , lets see if I still feel this way. I hope these Jerry animal gets beaten to death in jail. I read some of the victims stories, and I want to throw up. IF ANYONE AT PENN STATE KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON. AND DIDN'T CALL THE POLICE. AND DIDN'T TRY TO KEEP JERRY AWAY FROM KIDS. MAN COWARD IS NOT THE WORD. Am a nice guy but. This story is sickening. and super sad talk about innocence stolen.

As a graduate of State College HS and Penn State who lived in College Park MD for 18 years, all I can say is that these two schools always get along quite well. So thanks,Terps Soccer, for taking the time to give us a boost....it's a very good thing when we can support each other as friendly neighbors. Maryland had some dark days after the death of Len Bias, but most of that sadness and shame has faded from our memories. Penn State will soon be known once again for a hard-hitting football team that is comprised of young men who actually go to class and study. Let's just pray for the alleged Sandusky victims. If these events actually took place, they may still face some massive inner battles to cope with their memories....

I know this is an old thread - but gotta say, sorry about that man. Bugs me sometimes when my fellow Buckeyes get a little too "passionate," especially when it involves discussions of the current situation. I like what the OP said about needing to remember that all of Penn State shouldn't be classified with whoever the villains may be here. Justice needs to be served to those involved, but that being said, I definitely wish I could just snap my fingers and make this go away for you all, and certainly for the victims too.
Stay proud Nittany Lions! You are a classy fan base as far as I'm concerned, and that will define PSU football more than Sandusky ever could.

  • Some people think Penn state the football team should be shut down for a year. Some guy told me after the child rape happened at the penn state showers. How can anyone use it again.

But it's funny everyone's carpet has dirt under it.
