Will the Loss of Dorian Johnson Start a Domino Effect?

  • I'm very afraid that the loss of Dorian Johnson will have an effect on guys like Hack, AB and others. This was one kid I felt we couldn't afford to lose.

    Thoughts?

  • What aren't you afraid of?

  • My thoughts on this is that those guys were committed to PSU before Dorian jumped on board, so why would they jump ship when he jumps ship? The "core" of our class is still together...AB, Hack, Sickels, and Mahon. Add in re-affirmed commitments (so far) from Bell, Robinson, and Cothran.

????? What are you talking about? Do you have me confused with someone else?

  • All bets are off with this class. Every commit is going to be approached and approached and approached by other programs until they sign. So, I would not count any commit as a commit until signing day and their LOI shows up at PSU.

I hope your right Josh. I definitly considered Johnson part of the core of our class though.

  • No, Hack, AB, Sickels, Mahon, Nelson, Bell, Cothran, and maybe Robinson seem to be strong and really haven't wavered. There was always that chance that Johnson would decommit since he has been awfully quiet since the sanctions were handed down. This is was expected but this core group of 7-8 guys have been supportive of this team and BOB as coach, the domino effect is almost over with Issah possibly being the next guy to stay or go and there is always the possibility of Robinson leaving too but he seems to remain committed. But all in all nothing is definite until February.

  • I never expected Dorian Johnson to stick. I think we lose Issah and then that will be it.

  • Like these kids didn't already know how Dorian Johnson felt. We all knew he was most likely gone. These kids actually talk to Dorian so I think They expected this. I'm sure Sean knew this was coming.

I agree on Issah. I feel he is gone. Sucks on DJ though. Linemen tend to have a greater impact on other top position recruits.

  • Sorry I dont get too excited or down about offensive lineman recruits. I wasnt jumping for joy about landing DJ like most. It was great for team recruit rankings but O-line recruits are hard to project. Remember Eric Shrive? I know o-line is important but we have our LT in Donovan Smith for the next 4 years. We have Mangiro plus two more recruits coming in next year. Still think O-line is good enough in the near future.

    This x 1000

DJ wasn't tight with the core group of AB, Hack, Mahon, Sickels, and Nelson. Douglas was tighter and see how that ended.

I actually thought DJ might stick because he seemed focused on the right things: academics, family, proximity and all those remain.

Ditton on this, Hamilton. Maybe Robinson too just because he has yet to come up to PSU and is from FL.

  • When did he decommit?

    I'm not seeing this topic

If winning was easy even losers would do it.

  • Following psu recruiting for the next 5 years is just going to lead to heart ache. I still can't believe what those in power at psu have done to this program. It may never recover.

I'm thinking something similar, though I don't see Robinson sticking if he gets a decent offer close to home, like maybe Georgia Tech.

I thought this would be the deciding factor too............guess not.

LOL...spare me and us all. It's not going to be that bad longterm. PSU will be fine. It will probably take many years to recover but to say we may never recover is laughable.

Does that mean you'll leave here?

I'm the opposite. I think linemen are top priority in college ball. And although they are the toughest position to predict from high school to college(see your example of Shrive), you can never have enough quality ones on your team.
