For those who have asked before and were just wondering, I just saw on twitter that Will Mahone is committing to the school of his choice on Sunday August 7th.

I think what tdiddy means is that Mahone deciding on August 7th is big for our recruiting season because it could either get things cranking in the right direction for us, again, or people will start freaking out.

Sean on a side note, now that Lynch is off to BC, did we offer the Smith kid from Illinois? His film is very impressive, and he had a good offer list. I think he could be a plan A for a quality school. I like him a lot...

I feel OK about this one though... Not too confident, but I feel pretty good. This could be huge for us... Either way, buy mid August, we should know a lot about our recruiting...

People freak out pretty easily. not landing Mahone will suck, but in the end it's just one player at a position we always produce in.

Agreed. It will definitely suck if we can't land Mahone but such is the life on the recruiting trail. You win some battles and lose some battles. It happens to every team, every year. We will move on to other targets.

Yeah but we still need 2 quality RBs in this class appoo... We have invested so much in Mahone, it would be nice to actually see it pay off... I am fairly confident in this one... We get him, it adds a lot of momentum. We get Reeves and Lewis before the end of the summer, and I'm ecstatic- because then we can focus on other prospects, Schutt, Jones, Spence, Taylor, Cox... It will be a major opportunity to close out the class strong and finish with a top 10 class.

Believe me, I want mahone, and it would suck to lose him to Pitt or ND. But thats not a position I worry about, and we always be able to find a good back to tote the rocks. Since at least 2000, our starting RB been a kid who was highly recruited by other big time schools. (other than Rodney Kinlaw). I dont see that changing, regardless of what happens with Mahone. It's just a question if he wants to continue that tradition.
