Where's LO when you need them? All the "insiders" have vanished

  • You've gotta be kidding me.

"Prepared for the worst" probably would be the opinion of LO at this moment.... not looking good. Hope something changes.

Despite my optimism, it's been in the back of my mind that nothing good happens to my sports teams. Ugh.

  • It's one thing to whiff, but when you take this much time to whiff.....it blows. They could have had plenty of coaches prior to X-mas. What a joke.

Problem is...if true...they won't consider this a whiff at all. They'll say..."We got the guy who runs the (2nd) most prolific offense in the NFL! He coaches a future NFL Hall of Famer! He's young and chose us over the opportunity to coach in the NFL! He also has 10 years of college experience! Plus, he's fine young man, he loves his Mom...blah, blah, blah."

Really, they're thinking..."We got someone who we can control." And ultimately, I guess that's what they've wanted all along.

The quiet before the storm. Surely the announcement will come along soon, it is time for sources to go dark and let it play out. No need to let the cat out of the bag and kill the media buzz.

If timed correctly, i.e. after the championship game, then the media will be all over it for some time. Recruits see PSU positively in the news, then see a PSU coach in their living room or on the phone. The delay here could really work to our advantage with a strong run at recruiting close to signing day.

That's assuming they make a good hire. If they make a garbage hire it will be nothing but bad press. The media talking about how bad of a hire we made will only hurt recruiting.

They goofed off for the last two to three weeks and now they're in panic mode. What a disaster. They'll probably make the announcement on Sunday at 3 am so the whole world doesn't see this complete fiasco.

They can try to sell that, but nobody in their right mind thinks any of the final candidates were their guy. Best of luck to whoever they hire, but they took way to long to come up with any of these final 3. Way too long.

No, but I had never heard of quite a few guys before they went on to successful careers. I don't like the idea one bit, but who knows, if it is him, he may be fine. I'd like to see who would be on his staff and how he takes to recruiting before I'd make a final judgement. All that said, I would have rather sewn up Mullen when his name first surfaced than wait almost 60 days for O'Brien.

  • LOLZ. LO and all the insiders can go die for all I care. I couldn't careless if they said "our sources", "we believe", etc, etc, etc. You want to act all high and mighty (which they do), tell us our coach is a Grand Slam and all that other BS, and then not expect backlash? Sorry, but acting the way that many do , you reap the benefits. Just like if some insider was right, he gets praised? Well the same thing should happen if you are wrong.

Bottom line, I hope all the insiders get lost if we make this terrible hire, after months of telling us how great it was going to be. Consequences, folks. Don't let them get off that easily with the "situation is fluid" line.

Stop saying they goofed off. You have no idea what they've been doing or how much success they've had with their targets.

  • Just out of curiosity, are there any current NFL head coaches or assistants other than Munchak that are PSU alums? I mean, it is quite possible that if they struck out with "Plan A" and "Plan B" is the guy that it is someone that has not been discussed at all, meaning not Clements, not O'Brian, etc. Just something I thought about a little while ago ... If this mckinley character has any credibility (not saying I think he does) he did say that "Plan B" knew he was "Plan B" and was ok with it....to me that screams a Penn State guy, but maybe not.

Since it's obvious now that O'Brien is no longer just smoke. Considering Bill Belichick said he wasn't at practice today. Gotta change the story when the real one comes out.

  • Seriously, some of you guys need to step back from the ledge. IF it's O'Brien/Clements/Roman, it's not the end of the world. Just because it's not Nick Saban, doesn't mean the guy won't be successful. Good coaches have to get their start somewhere.

I understand the frustration, hearing all the rumors that we've had our guy, that he's a homerun, moonshot hire. A name like O'Brien can seem like a let down at first. But whomever it is, give the guy a chance, fercryinoutloud.

  • How about we hire John Hufnagel.

Mike Zordich, Darren Perry, Sam Gash, Bobby Engram and Steve Wisniewski are all on NFL staffs currently.
