Where will PSU be 10 years from now?

  • It seems to be an extremely fluid situation right now. But I'm starting to wonder what all the repercussions will be when all the facts have come out. The more I think about it the more I'm starting to believe that PSU will never recover from this mess. Please tell me I'm crazy, but everyday things seem to get worse like a nightmare that picks up from where it left off the previous night.

  • Depending on lawsuits, etc the future of PSU as we know it is in limbo right now. It's also unfortunate that I am sure Joe is going to get hit with some lawsuits eventually. Amazing this has all come about due to the actions of one horrendous monster and his sick urges. It still baffles me that Sandusky would do this to the University after it seemed like he cared so much for the school and football team.

  • Expect the unexpected.
We will have won a national championship by then.
I have nothing to base this off of other then sheer damn emotion. But I believe.

  • I firmly believe we will rebuild and recover. It will take time and effort, but the spirit of the university is too strong to let the actions of a few bring down 10s of thousands of students, hundreds of thousands of active and very proud alumni, and countless supporters.

  • I think THIS recruiting class will tell us everything. If the new staff can hold onto even 80% of the current commits, I think that will lay the path for recruits going forward.

Someone said O'Connor was opening his recruitment up in another thread. Anyone know if that's true? He was the OL I was most excited about...would be awful to see him not in this class.

This class is going to be a trainwreck. It's what PSU does next year with hiring a new coach which will tell us how this transition is going to be. Coming from someone who has seen several coaching changes (without the tragedy surrounding this one) I can tell you that your 2012 class will be awful. 2013 will be key.

  • Time heals all. While things really seem terrible right now - and they most certainly are - people realize that this is still a small fraction of the University and there are still THOUSANDS of amazing people that are involved. I anticipate THON will be extremely emotional this year and will be a key component to the healing process.

and if we do, it won't mean a damn thing. What was it Joe said about victory without Honor? We don't have any of that any more, and we don't get it back.

In 10 years we'll be a big school with a big football program, known as the place where their once great coach became synonymous with a pedophile. The BOT's actions caused the last part. Time doesn't heal that. That's our legacy now. Just like SMU's is 'that school that cheated really bad and got the death penalty, and where Craig James may or may not have killed 5 hookers' This is much worse than what happened with SMU. There are some things you don't overcome.

  • PSU will still be located in State College in 10 years. As far as the football program, PSU will replace its football coach at least once during this time. It all depends on who the next hire is though. Maybe luck will come and a significant name comes and stays - but it won't be more than 10-13 years. PSU will recover. It has to with all the resources. I just might take a little extra time.
