Just ask Slias Redd... He is after all a master of business decisions. His business decision did pay off, just not for him.
Redd 817yds, 5.4ave, 9 TD's
ZZwinak 1000yds, 4.9ave, 6 TD's
What bowl game does 7-5 get you? Likely a trip to the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec 22 vs Boise State.
What does 8-4 get you in 2012? Immortalized in the stadium for your loyalty to your teammates and university family with a banner alongside the best of all-time. OneTeam!
Hopefully all the kids on the team pay close attention to this and realize that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Even at the league minimum on a 1 year deal, he's probably better off going to the NFL.
All he has to do is make a team, have a good rookie year, then re-negotiate. I honestly cannot understand him going back to USC next year....unless the pay he's receiving at USC is in line w/ NFL rookie contracts.

I wonder if he regrets his decisions at this point? He will more than likely still have a solid career in the NFL or at least get a solid shot. I have a close friend who transferred out of PSU for more play time. He was a WR in the early-mid 80's. He left the year prior to the '86 Champ season and went to a stud SEC team. He had great stats at his new school and achieved most of his individual goals. However, he doesn't even associate with one person he played with at the other school. He does however still come to nearly every PSU game, get his sideline pass as a letterman and keeps very close with all of his PSU family. He mentors some of the younger kids and talks to them when they are considering transferring. He shares his experience and tries to help them understand the gravity of their decision. I'll be interested to see Silas's long term view on this decision although we'll likely never know.
Way back in August, many of us said that Redd was making a mistake--not just for Penn State but for himself. Why would he leave a situation where he was the feature back and actually the centerpiece of the entire team....to be one of many offensive threats at another school? I used the term "stupid," and I think it was stupid. But hey, haven't all of us done some stupid things? I vote for forgiving or forgetting all about Redd and instead focusing on this awesome guy named Zack Zwinak! Wow, what a beast! And think about this. If Redd had stayed for this year and then Lynch had completed his red shirt and was ready to be the 2013 star, the Lions might never have discovered Zwinak's full potential. I'm guessing he's the kind of runner who needs game competition to showcase his full talent....
