Pliny the Elder is one of the best for sure...San Fran bars usually have it.

Had Omegang 3 philosophers and Hopslam this weekend. Not a fan of the Hopslam...everyone said it was one of their faves, but I don't get it. Loved the Omegang - especially in the Bomber bottle!

Russian River's only East Coast distribution is Philly, so you're not going to find it near you. Even then, bottled Pliny doesn't really make it out this way. Best bet is finding it on tap via Internet or phone.

I've mentioned the World of Beer in this thread before, but I have to bring it up again. I get there almost every week after soccer games (there's a location in Columbus where I live a couple minutes from where I play), and it's heaven for a beer lover. About 50 beers on draft, rotating every week, pretty much all top quality stuff. I've probably been able to try 30-40 of the beers mentioned in this thread on draft in the past few months, and lots of other great stuff I didn't even know existed. I'm not exaggerating when I say there can't be many better places to try great beer in the country. The variety and quality is fantastic. Sean, next time you're in Columbus we'll head there.

A couple Pittsburgh-area bottle shops drive to Philly regularly to bring back Russain River (and other) beers... Since it comes to SOMEWHERE in PA, it's paid PA sales tax, and is therefor legal to sell ANYWHERE in PA. Somebody just has to go get it...

I know this was 8 months ago, but I disappeared. The sanctions were too painful. I still watched on Saturday's, but had to get away from "all of this" for a little while...

I don't think there's any need for PMs... I'm 99% sure it's not illegal. It's overpriced, cause Mom-and-Pop bottle shop are sending a car to Philly to pick up beer... But it paid PA taxes on the way into Philly, and is therefor legit for sale in PA. You run into issues if you're selling beer that didn't pay PA sales tax... As long as Uncle Sam (and Tom Corbett) get there's, I think that's the only concern here.

I know House of 1000 Beers in New Ken has bottles.... Just put some of them on a price-reduction, too. A Pliny the Elder sighting is rare... But not impossible. You're likely to find some or all of Consecration, Supplication, Temptation, and Damnation, if you swing out there.

I recently heard that 3 Rivers 6-Pack, out by murrysville, drives to Philly as well. I cannot confirm that one first-hand, though, but I heard this from a guy I know and trust regarding Craft Beer.

And I feel like I might have seen them at Sharp Edge before, that's the kind of thing they'd do... I'm not certain, though, To be honest, because I've always thought their beer didn't live up to the hype. It's good.... But for the price you'll pay to get it this way, I don't think it lives up. But I also fully-understand that *urge* to try new things and come to those kind of conclusions on your own!

If you're looking for a SURE THING, I can pretty much gaurantee they'll have some (on the shelves, in plain sight, stickered for retail sale, not around back or behind the counter with a secret handshake) at House of 1000 Beers in New Kensington. The others I mentioned above *might*. I'm sure their are others, also.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Pliny is a tad overrated. Blind Pig is delicious.

Had IPA and Porter from Iron Hill over the weekend. Both impressive with just enough flavor. Not sure if they bottle-had a friend bring growlers to my March Madness Microbrew Marathon on Saturday. It's my version of a "31" party.
