That was a travesty. Not to take anything away from that Nebraska team, as that was a really good team as well, but they should have split that tilte that year. You had 2 truly dominant teams that would have won the championship in 80-90% of the time had they not been in the same year.
That still might have been one of the most impressive offenses ever put on the field. The balance was amazing and is exactly what an offense should strive for. You hear about a defense trying to take away what an offense does best, but that offense took away whatever the opposing defense did best.
It's a shame Carter had such a severe injury. He had a Marshall Faulk type career written all over him, IMO.

Stanford and Bama. Love the academic standards set at Stanford and it's just fantastic to watch them have such success while maintaining it's largest emphasis on academics. Bama because of their traditional uniforms, fanbase, and overall great history. Don't get me wrong I don't necessarily "follow" those programs even 1/100th as much as I do PSU being a PSU student and all, but I root for them whenever they're on, and enjoy watching them succeed.
EDIT: Almost forgot to mention Texas A&M. Mainly because I can't stand the Longhorns and their pampered program, and ever since I was 12 I thought the tradition of kissing the girl you brought to the game after touchdowns was awesome.

If you look back at things, Alabama has been rewarded for being in a major conference more throughout the years than Penn St. I do think that Alabama was at a higher level from the late 1800's until the early 70's than Penn St, but since then, no one has been any better over the long run than Penn St. They are right there with USC, Nebraska, Bama, Notre Dame, Ohio St, and the Oklahomas. Have to add FSU and Miami as well I suppose.
Not being in the B1G until '94 has an affect on the number of chances Penn St had to actually win the big prize, IMO. I think you could have probably given JoePa another 2 or 3 chances for a title if he had been in a major conference, IMO. Not saying they would have won them, but the chances would have been greater.

I also took a visit there when a kid I played ball with was being nationally recruited. We were on the sideline for the Lousiville game in 2006. Awesome game to be at. ((I still have the pylon.))

What teams in college besides Penn St do you enjoyt to follow?
