‏@Cordale10 Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS

  • I love to follow Boise St. I just love seeing what they can do with under the radar prospects, and I love Chris Peterson ever since his celebration after the Statue of liberty against Oklahoma. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwzjLQx2Ad0&feature=related
Other than that I like to see if USC's talent lives up to the hype, usually it does not.

  • I wouldn't really say follow, but I've enjoyed watching OSU since Zac Robinson and Kendall Hunter started playing. I go to a couple Clemson games a year, so I generally know what's going on there.

That was a travesty. Not to take anything away from that Nebraska team, as that was a really good team as well, but they should have split that tilte that year. You had 2 truly dominant teams that would have won the championship in 80-90% of the time had they not been in the same year.

That still might have been one of the most impressive offenses ever put on the field. The balance was amazing and is exactly what an offense should strive for. You hear about a defense trying to take away what an offense does best, but that offense took away whatever the opposing defense did best.

It's a shame Carter had such a severe injury. He had a Marshall Faulk type career written all over him, IMO.

BO...I think I like you and 'Bama more and more with each of your posts, haha.

    Teams I follow:

Bama- Tradition in success, style, and gameplan. "We'll run the ball at you until you can stop us." Class.

Rutgers- Originally from New Jersey. Whenever I start a dynasty in NCAA the second one is always a Rutgers one, just because it becomes too easy to recruit at PSU. biggrin I also took a visit there when a kid I played ball with was being nationally recruited. We were on the sideline for the Lousiville game in 2006. Awesome game to be at. ((I still have the pylon.))

Stanford- Nothing to hate about this program. They succeed against the ilk of the "better" programs in California. Above all else, they are one of the strongest academic institutions in the country. Love seeing a school like that field a competitive football team.

Florida- If I didn't go to Penn State, UF was my close second. Stood on the 50 yard line of the Swamp after the Orange and Blue game, before being chased off by security, haha.

  • I am pretty much Blue and White Forever. However, I do have a couple of programs I follow regularly...

Duke for basketball, I have been a fan since Shane Battier and except for Pete Lisicky. PSU really has offered much in that regard.

Texas for baseball, I know the PSU and Texas history. However, I always enjoyed the College World Series and they were always in it back in the 1990s when I was growing up.

Navy is the only other football program I follow. I love the offense and enlisting in the Navy was my other option to attending UP. I only sent out one application or else I was going to enlist . Plus, Kyle Eckel was a beast in college...

  • As probably many I look up to my father and he had nothing but great things so about Alabama, their fans an Bear so I pull for you guys. I pull for Nebraska for the same reason mutual respect it may be different now that they have joined the conference. Stanford an Northwestern because of their prestigious academics while having a good football team (excluding conference games vs us). I'm a big Terp basketball fan as you've posted and found out why PSU basketball is non existent.

Penn State 7x National Champs, home of the winningest college football coach to ever grace a sideline.

  • Stanford and Bama.
Love the academic standards set at Stanford and it's just fantastic to watch them have such success while maintaining it's largest emphasis on academics.
Bama because of their traditional uniforms, fanbase, and overall great history.
Don't get me wrong I don't necessarily "follow" those programs even 1/100th as much as I do PSU being a PSU student and all, but I root for them whenever they're on, and enjoy watching them succeed.

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention Texas A&M. Mainly because I can't stand the Longhorns and their pampered program, and ever since I was 12 I thought the tradition of kissing the girl you brought to the game after touchdowns was awesome.

  • I love Big Ten football. I usually cheer for some other Big Ten schools like Northwestern, Iowa, Michigan State, and Wisconsin (unless they're really good and battling PSU for top spot). Never ever cheer for Ohio State and Michigan.

Also love watching some of the pass-happy western schools like BYU, Hawaii, Texas Tech, etc.

Finally, I always cheer for teams from states I like to visit, like Montana, Montana State, U of Wyoming, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Utah, Utah State, etc.

A GREAT tradition. I wish we'd do that up here, but I don't think people would really be open to it.

  • For me it's PENN STATE and then pretty much no one else. I went to Western Kentucky University so I love them and they pose no threat at all, ever to the Nittany Lions. I am from Lexington, KY and I hate UK. I have always been a Kansas Jayhawks basketball fan. Most likely because they can rival UK and UNC as the most historical and tradition rich programs.

  • West Virginia.. Almost went there... Visited there two summers ago and was blown away.

My gf (been dating for 2 years) is a huge ND fan for family reasons. I watch most of their games but I still can't stand the Irish and most of their fans..

  • Football: Georgia and 'Bama.

Basketball: Michigan State, Louisville, Syracuse and 'Nova (prior to Chambers leaving)...ergo, I am enjoying the game between Louisville and Michigan State!

    Domo

  • UMass, UNLV and Georgetown for basketball

Dont really follow anyone else in football. Penn State only.

I do bet alot though and usually like to follow the strong non-bcs schools every year because they usually dominate the spread.

If you look back at things, Alabama has been rewarded for being in a major conference more throughout the years than Penn St. I do think that Alabama was at a higher level from the late 1800's until the early 70's than Penn St, but since then, no one has been any better over the long run than Penn St. They are right there with USC, Nebraska, Bama, Notre Dame, Ohio St, and the Oklahomas. Have to add FSU and Miami as well I suppose.

Not being in the B1G until '94 has an affect on the number of chances Penn St had to actually win the big prize, IMO. I think you could have probably given JoePa another 2 or 3 chances for a title if he had been in a major conference, IMO. Not saying they would have won them, but the chances would have been greater.

The opposite of this is actually true in my opinion. We played in national titles in 78, 82, 85 and 86. If we had not been in the Big Ten we would have played in another in 1994.

The argument could be made that we deserved to be in them in 68 and 69. Heck, if Nixon keeps his mouth shut in 69 we might have had a share of one then anyway.

    PSU17

  • Miami - I grew up there in the 80s before moving north. The first football teams I remember were the '82 Dolphins, and the Bernie Kosar 'Canes. I moved back in 2002-04, so got I got some of the more recent glory years.

I follow the B1G, as we have most of the conference covered in my family (Purdue, Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern, and PSU).

Living in TN now, so I'm entertained by Tenn, 'Bama, and Vanderbilt.

    Posas14

  • Nobody specifically.

I've always watched a ton of football but its on a day to day basis on who I'll root for. If it helps PSU for one team to lose, obviously I'm rooting for the team they are playing.

If a team is playing against OSU, Mich, Pitt or ND I'm rooting for them. When these teams play eachother I usually look for hilarity to ensue.

    Its really PSU or bust.

    The Heel

  • TCU for a long time, before they became "famous" as they used to win me a lot of money playing on Thursday nights, and I was a gamblin man :)

    I like
NWestern - since those B1G Champ teams and love that Fitz is coaching there now
UVA - Like the academic/sport aspect, and London is doing a solid job
Bama(more so now having even more interaction with many fans since this recent home and home)
    Stanford- See UVA
BC - Always liked them a bit for some tough play, without getting the best athletes oft times
Vandy - Have it so tough not "playing the game" in the SEC. Feel bad for them, and proud at the same time

    Used to like:

WVU - Then RR showed up and ruined it
FSU- Before the real big run
VTech- W'hen they are peaking on D and special teams

    I dont root for:
Big 12 unless a defense decides to play that year, then I will root for that school a bit

PAC12- as boring as anything. USC with defense was fun to watch at times though I rooted against them, and back in desert swarm days I liked AZ

Boo to the NCAA for going with this OT system. Now I cant root for scoreless ties in the ND/Mich game.
