What difference would it make?

  • If Joe wasn't the HC of this team? let's say whoever your favorite coach prospect took over the program 3 years ago? What is the difference between the team we saw today and the team they would field?

Edit: assume we recruited the same players

  • 3 years ago and we'd have a completely different set of players. If we had UM 3 years ago, this team would win the B1G this year guaranteed.

  • Lots of positives about change, but getting a threesome as good as Bradley, Vanderlin, and Johnson for the defense won't be easy.

i said this last week. If Saban took our roster (or whoever you want)...and we had Bama's roster...

Saban would have still beat PSU if we swapped rosters.

Make no mistake, PSU has talent...problem is, we have no gamebreaking talent (save redd). Another factor is the fact that we don't develop the talent we have, we don't put players in the best position to utilize that talent, and if you went to a Junior High game in State College, you'd see better playcalling and coaching.

It's been an ongoging issue for years.

We are not a good team, we have zero....ZERO offense. I still think, and have thought, we're a 7-5 team. I had thought, Indiana, EMu, and Purdue are gimme wins. Quite frankly, I don't think we have any gimme wins outside of EMU. We very easily could have a losing season, that's how pathetic our offense and our coaching is.

I think we are underdogs the last 5 games of the year now. I won't feel confident that we will be bowl eligible unless we win the next 4 games. Iowa the obvious toughie of that group and we better try something new.

    POV

  • if in a month, I said we'd lose to NW, IL, Iowa, would anyone be surprised?

I've thought for a long time, our last 5 games are hard, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if we lost 4 of our last 5.

    NW desperately needs Persa back.
Iowa lost to Iowa State and barely beat Pitt.
Illinois is still a question mark, but they are beating a good ASU team.

Nebraska can't put anyone away and if our defense contains Martinez, it could be a long low scoring game.
Ohio State has looked just as bad as us lately.
    Wisconsin will kill us.

NW: I agree. Persa should be back by then though.
Iowa: I put no stock with what they did against ISU. It's an ugly rivalry game. ISU ALWAYS plays Iowa tough.
Illinois: We are going to have to score to beat them...I'm not sold that we can.
Nebraska: We aren't going to score enough to beat them.
Ohio State: Again, their defense, specifically their DL is good enough to destroy our 5 guys, aka OL. Low scoring game, but many times we think that, and OSU lays 35 on us.
    Wisconsin: Zero chance.

  • Yeah, I agree Persa should be fine by then and the Persa/Ebert connection scares me. Iowa struggled with a bad Pitt team and we got them at home. I honestly think this is the year with them. Illinois and Wisconsin should beat us. Illinois is a bad matchup for us. Nebraska could be the surprise game though. For all we know, Martinez could be hurt by then (just the style of play) and they are pretty one dimensional.

  • Nebraksa 51, Washington 38. And they had a QB who couldn't throw it 50 yards in the air and had a bad wheel. UW has less talent than we do on offense.

Do you realize how long it would take us to score 38 on Nebraska? 16 quarters? I know I've been banging on this drum but for the LOVE OF GOD PLEASE CALL COACH SARK!!

  • I'll play too:

NW: Persa will likely play and it is at their place

Iowa: I think we are the better team but their passing attack is capable of picking apart our secondary. also Ferentz owns JoePa. I repeat: Ferentz owns JoePa

Illinois: they may have the most complete QB in the conference. Will our offense put up the necessary scores.

Nebraska: great offense as long as Martinez is healthy. We could keep the Huskers in the 20s, but where would our pts come from

OSU: we never score much at the shoe. We probably don't reach double figures

    Wisconsin: hahahaha

We probably don't lose every single game and finish with a losing record, but with our coaching staff, it will not be as easy as one would assume.

    POV

  • We would have better player development and utilize the guys we have to their max ability. They would be put in positions to make plays and not do the bare minimum to get the job done. We would see in-game adjustments and better scheming/game planning for opponents. I have no doubt in my mind about all of that.

  • I'd be fine if they promote bradley and he cleans house on the offensive side of the ball.. we'd have a chance to win every weekend if the offense was halfway decent..

I want to go outside for the hire, but I'd be real curious to see what Bradley would do with the defense without Joe.

No, we need a clean break from Joe. I'm afraid, Bradley has been around Joe for so long, if he's head coach, the same things would occur.

No offence to Scrap....I love him, shared a beer with him a few times, very nice guy, and I have no doubt that he'd like to run a different defense...I just don't know about him as a HC.

I have issue with Bradley not even trying to stand up to Joe and fight like Sandusky and Ganter did. Not to mention we need a clean break from the everything Paterno.
