What a disgrace!

  • How can there not be a moment of silence for JoePa at the game? He has done more for the university than the entire board put together. I know a lot of you will disagree with me, but the lack of respect for Joe was more upsetting to me than the loss to ohio. The bot/erickson should be ashamed of themselves.

    Total disgrace not having a moment of silence out of respect for JVP. I agree with "moving on" but to not acknowledge his contributions to the university is in poor taste.

    The same folks who sanctioned taking down the statue aren't going to sanction a moment of silence or any other remembrance of he who must not be named.

  • Oh come on the talking heads(Stephen A** Smith/etc..) think any mention of JVP means we don't get it. After all according to him this morning Big Red told Joe he saw a kid being sodomized!......Really!!!!! In my reading of the complete Freeh report ,Joes biography ,etc I must have missed that........I am so tired of this Bulls**t and wish I had a forum to rebutt this inaccurate info...........could Joe have done more maybe but he is not the villian he has been made out to be......To rebutt SMITH Joe did not run the university, he despised Sandusky, he did not allow Sandusky to have an office on campus or walk the campus,he did not allow Sandusky to attend games..........JVP tried to kick Sandusky off campus but was told he did not have that authority so he did what he could.....Sanduskys office was moved out of the Lasch buildng..........Look further up the food chain for who allowed all of the above.

    Totally agree with the OP........Its time for the BOT and Erickson to stop bending to the opinion of the media and Public who have not read one paragraph of the Freeh report.......I thought Joe stayed way too long but what he did for this university and the younfg men he coached should NEVER be forgotten!

    I'm sick of their pr phrase "moving on". As if I don't have the capability to support the current team and be pissed off that they have tried to erase Joe from memory. I understand the football team has to 'move on', but I don't have to learn a new playbook.

    It's impossible to root for the current regime and still acknowledge the traditions of the past.(sarcasm). The NCASS may take the wins and trophies back but not the memories.

    Bullsh_t. I think this is a great post. JVP is a good reflection how NCAA football should be conducted, putting education before athletic and graduating student athletes. The same lynch mob and those morons running NCAA cannot or will not distinguish the difference between a criminal matter vs violation of the NCAA bylaws.

    This is ONE man who has created the successes of all other athletic departments via the revenue from his effort on the football field. The only thing that served as a reminder of JVP was a bobblehead doll where his statue once stood and a cutout plastered on the window of Franco Harris box. What a shame. To simply ignore his accomplishment and the good he has done is truly an embarrassment. Then again, I have very little expectation of the BOT and Erickson to do anything honorable.

    IMO with the words the announcer used, Joe WAS included in the moment of silence.

    There can't be enough credit given to Joe. Chances are that without Joe, you wouldn't watch Penn St and you wouldn't be posting on the Lions Pride board about how he doesn't deserve a moment of silence, because the Lions Pride board would probably look like Pitt's board. Joe isn't soley responsible for building Penn State into what it is, but he is single handedly more responsible than any other one person.

    I don't know the exact words, but the announcer spoke for a good 20-25 seconds before the moment of silence.

    One line was something like "we have all lost something over the past months"...

    They didn't specifically say Joe's name...but like I said they definitely left it open to interpretation in my opinion...probably deliberately.

What a classy thing to do, have a moment of silence for anyone or anything in the world. My grandma died in february, I'm glad they were kind enough to have a moment of silence for her.

    What's right is right and what's wrong is wrong. The school needs to worry more about pissing off Penn Stater's than worry about pissing off people in Bristol Connecticut. Again, I'm more than capable of supporting the current team while not blindly forgetting the past.

    I hate to break it to you, but if you were at the game you should have seen thousands of people wearing garb that alluded to Joe. More people were pissed off at these cowards not honoring him Saturday than weren't. And again, it doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks. It's about US!
