Wednesday practice observations

  • Well I would argue if you eat 3 full meals and then eat like like crap before going to bed you will put on weight- college days ugh lol

Overall now that I have lost 70 lbs in the last year, if you eat Heathly all the time and don't over eat, eating before you go to bed isn't the end of the world. My problem would be there's no way I could make it to 10 or 11 without eating dinner so I don't eat late at night much anymore

  • Good Morning Fellas, I come in peace and hope I don't get attacked on this one. The protein conversation is an interesting one however it is a little OT from the Wednesday practice observations. I see the thread growing rapidly and keep checking back because I think it is additional practice information or depth chart opinions and its has gone primarily nutrition based. Can you guys PM each other or start a nutrition thread? Once again no offense guys but this is the most interesting Spring in PSU football in a long time with the new staff and wide open opportunities for all and I'm dying to hear any little piece of info coming out of these scrimmages. Thanks

Why do you feel this way? Just because RB or PJ haven't beaten out MM?

Maybe MM is stepping up and winning the job - seems like he is getting the most 1st team reps every practice... I don't love MM because of the mental mistakes (trying to do more than he is capable of at a crucial time) but I think he has demonstrated that he understands what the offense is supposed to do and how to beat defenses - he was also good at throwing receivers open (putting the ball in a place the WR can run to get it where the DB can't).. If this staff can get him to understand his limitations and play within himself he may be a decent fit for this system as a college QB... Not saying he will be great but he may be serviceable if the rest of the team plays well..

With all due respect.....how has Matt demosntrated that he understands the offense....when it's new to all of them and we haven't seen it?

And MM does NOT throw the ball where only the receiver can get it as much as you say. VERY often he makes throws low or behind receivers where they have to break off their routes to make an adjustment, which hurts their YAC.

Hey I never said MM was an all american... Heck everyone makes some bad throws even Peyton Manning and Tom Brady ...

And I never said MM knows this offense - I said his strength and reason for playing the pst 2 years was that he understood the offense and defenses (it certainly wasn't his physical capabilities that shot him to #1 on the depth charts). He is not great and I grant you that but he has been the best we have had and got us to 9 wins last year despite losing series to RB who for the most part was terrible last year.

All I did was reply to the original poster who said he was worried that no one was stepping up and it appeared he was only worried because PJ or RB had not won the job. I just threw out there that we don't know if MM has actually stepped up or not - since he has been getting the 1st team reps with the reports we have been reading then he may in fact be stepping up as far as this staff sees? Clearly this position has been a weak spot the past 2 years but MM has been clearly the best we have and if this staff feels he is the best with the new system (which may suit his strength of understanding the game) then I will accept that...
