    I mean they're just downvotes, it's not like the 24/7 people come to your house and take your first born if you get too many. Say what you want, you're a paying member and if others don't like it too bad. moon

There should be no reason that just because this guy asks a question you don't like he gets crucified with downvotes. If you don't like it, say so in your response. It is a little bit excessive that within 5 minutes of posting a question/opinion this thread already has 10 downvotes. Unacceptable and excessive.

    Not saying I agree with him, but people shouldn't have to fear downvotes unless it truly is a stupid/rude statement and I don't think this is the case.

  • Accepting kids we don't want because it might get us a recruit we do want is ridiculous. If we lose Webb oh well and there's no guarantee we get him w a drennon commitment. I would love Webb as well but what u guys are suggesting is ridiculous.

    Where did I say any of that sounds good for Webb to PSU? The visit is somewhat concerning - I'm just not quite as concerned as others seem to be.

    The problem is, you're ignoring plenty of other evidence. For example, the fact that Webb originally visited PSU alone - while Drennon was visiting ND. Drennon then put ND at the top of his list following that visit, despite the fact that Webb is not being recruited by the Domers. It would seem that Drennon would feel comfortable going to ND without Webb - why not Webb going to PSU without Drennon?

    Here's another thing to think about: Webb recently visited Maryland with Zaire Williams. Since when has Maryland been a player for Webb? Maybe it's just me, but it seems that Webb enjoys visiting places with his friends. I think it's very possible that this is not a serious visit for Webb, even though it might be a serious one for the others. And it makes sense when you consider that Drennon now wants to take more visits. Webb is going with him.

    Look at their actions - they've been visiting a lot of schools separately for the last month or two. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that means something.

    What other quality DTs are on our radar that we have a good shot to land? Right now, with the way the recruiting is going at that position, it could be a position of need.

    It's not like Drennon is Mike Wallace here. He can play.

    Losing Webb over this is an utter mistake IMO.

    I like your logic, I really do. The problem is the evidence I presented is a lot more fresh. Everything I said has all happened in the last couple days. When something feels off about a situation, it usually is. More than likely, I think there have been some misccomunications and Webb to PSU is way less likely than 36 hours ago.

    Yep....hell any two kids could hold a staff hostage. If he really bails on PSU because his buddy can't come...then he wasn't sold on PSU by himself. We'll see how this plays out but his father wanted him to take a few more visits ahead of the Drennon no offer card.

    Fresh evidence doesn't necessarily negate other evidence. Need to look at the whole picture. There's some reasons to be concerned, and some reasons to believe we've still got a great shot with Webb.

    Another question for those worried - why was OSU being rumored as the leader for Webb (before he visited us) despite Drennon not having an offer from them?

    I could not agree with this more. I'd love to be wrong, but I think landing Allen is the biggest long shot on our board right now. So at the risk of losing Webb, Drennon becomes a slow play? Why not slow play a kid like Cothran then? He's the kid you play that game with because he'll still be there post season.

    The staff does deserve kudos so far for their recruiting accomplishments. But this decision could become a real regret down the line.

  • The new staff is big on measurables. I wonder if they found something out about drennon during the visit that they didn't like. I really like that psu is starting to show some very visible exclusivity. It should definitely yield dividends in the long term.

    Exactly ... Cothran was a kid that probably is out there in September for you to get. You could have waited on him.

    As the user perfect said, this staff seems very keen on measurables. Drennon has the height, but he's probably ~190 pounds, while Cothran is built ready to play (still raw as a player, but his build is solid - if it wasn't, he probably wouldn't have gotten an offer).

    So maybe the staff liked Cothran better than Drennon. Remember we do already have one rush end signed up.

    I wouldn't be shocked if Drennon was in this class come signing day. I am still not overly worried about Webb either. He took a visit to Maryland too, think they're players?

    And so complaining about losing Webb (even though that hasn't even been shown to be true yet) is the main topic, not necessarily what other DT's we're looking at.

    I'm still trying to figure out how you are allowed to post here? There are "negative" fans and then there are trolls. I have no problem with negative fans, but trolls should be gone.
