The Lions' Pride

Just watched the Orange Bowl against FSU. Now I'm watching the 2005 OSU game. That was a special team in 2005, filled with great players like Poz, Hali, and Robinson. And Justin King was electric whenever he got the ball in his hands.

Question: how many players from this year's team would start on the 2005 team? I honestly think that only three projected starters on this year's roster that would have started on the 2005 team are (1) Silas Redd over Tony Hunt, (2) Anthony Fera over Kevin Kelly as placekicker (but not over Jeremy Kapinos as punter), and (3) Jordan Hill over Scott Paxson at DT. You could argue that Stephon Morris could've started over Anwar Philips. But I wouldn't take Gerald Hodges or Mike Mauti over Paul Poz or Dan Connor, and I also wouldn't take Justin Brown over Deon Butler. And the rest are mostly no brainers.

I'm not sure if this is sobering to see how much less talent we have now than then, or if it is simply a tribute to how great of a team we had in 2005.
