It doesn't get a lot of US coverage and its probably because people like me don't really care.
MLB is pretty big in America and is almost ten months long with spring training and the post season. I don't really see the point and quite honestly it's not the Olympics, to me, and I don't want my MLBs teams players getting hurt or playing hard now.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
I have been watching, wanting to get into it... When David Wright hit the GS and fans were chanting USA I became committed to watching the rest of the game and tomorrow's game. Would love to see us get to the finals for the first time(have to beat Canada tomorrow first), USA winning will create further interest for the event IMO.
I'm a fan of WBC and have been since '06. I attended a Japan/US game in Anaheim. Chipper was the US's best player, but fell to Ichiro, Matuzaka, and that other guy on the Mets.
Best part was when the Japanese manager (Oh) refused to take the field for a solid 15 mins in protest of a bad call by the umpires.
The stadium in San Juan has ridiculously good atmosphere. I can't wait to see the DR / PR game coming up. Also, when the Asian brackets (including Cuba & the Netherlands) come back to the US it's always fun - especially the Japanese vs Koreans. It's always interesting to see Cuba play in the US.
50/50 crowds of Mexican & US fans was very cool last night. I agree that the US has been sluggish in this tournament....they just need to step up intensity vs prior years. But there is alot of talent on the other teams --- winning is not a cakewalk.
