Really? In about the same time it would take him to fly to CA, visit a recruit, and fly back, he could drive to Maryland, visit 4 recruits, and drive back. And that's assuming he goes to CA on a private jet instead of commercial with transfers.

I'd rather see him working more kids in one area than a few scattered all over.

I understand what you are saying from a practicality standpoint, but disagree from the standpoint that this is the direction that this program needs to go. National Recruiting means both the East and West coasts. The elite schools recruit everywhere.

We have Larry Johnson Sr. Arguably one of the best recruiters in the country and definitely one of the best if not the best D-Line coach in the country. You get him out there talking to elite level talent (especially at D-line) and good things can happen.

Sure we need to go out and try to get as many elite prospects in PA, OH, NY, MA, MD, VA, WV, and DC, but there are PSU type kids all over the country and if you put feelers out and they appear interested it allows you the ability at the very least to make a good impression on the Coaches and HS programs in that area and possibly pull in a kid with elite level talent.

This is a whole new deal right now. O'Brien isn't going to do things the way he sees fit... But until we see 2-3 years down the line how the program is... I would let him shake things up and try to inject some much needed National energy into the PSU brand.
