  • lol as interesting as it sounds, it has become reality now that you posted this

  • It's also on the crawls. Either a very high stakes poker game or he wants out..bad. A journalist would dig up a Browns source and find out who made the first call.

I still don't buy the reports. This is all from the initial report that claimed the source was someone who "knows BOB's plans'".... Gee I wonder... dunno maybe his agent.

  • Confused about all this...wouldn't the Browns have to ask for permission....which would probably be reported. His agent came out earlier this week and said no NFL team had contacted them yet....so who is reporting this right.

BOB needs to speak out...if he is unhappy or not...squash the rumors period.

  • Soooo... after a year of preaching loyalty to his players to stay at PSU he may bolt for the NFL? Typical. still i hope he stays.

  • First of all, this pisses me off beyond belief. But, think about this: let's say he does leave. And let's say he would make $5,000,000 per year. An NFL team would basically have to pay 5 full seasons worth of salary for one year of O'Brien. The $18.4 buyout plus $5 in salary. I find this highly unlikely, but evidently in consideration if they are interviewing him.

I am now going from denial earlier today to being bloody pissed off..... At some point ill enter acceptance and then just hope he signs with the Eagles, but I am stuck in the PISSED OFF stage. F&$K !!!

  • O'Brien just doesn't seem the type that would play games for a raise. He also doesn't seem like a guy that would screw over both the university or the recruits like Hack or Adam. I just don't get it and am very confused and frustrated!!

Darren Rovell spoke to Bob's agent in November. His agent said the buyout is 9.2 not 18.4 mil. Still up for debate as both figures have been reported.

I know but he's either a total fake or is leveraging for more power/money.

  • Penn State coach Bill O'Brien interviewed with the Cleveland Browns this past week, a league source told CBSSports.com. The interview was first reported by the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The fact the interview occurred and was kept a secret this long is interesting but what happened in the interview itself is even more fascinating. A league source says the Browns were incredibly impressed with O'Brien.

Said one NFL source familiar with the situation: “He could easily be the head coach of an NFL team right now. That's how knowledgeable he is.”

The impression the Browns got was that O'Brien is happy at Penn State but would make the jump to the NFL sooner than later should the right opportunity arise. One source said that O'Brien might interview with other NFL teams (if he already hasn't.)

  • Sources told ESPN last week that teams that have gauged his interest have been informed by a third-party representative that when O'Brien accepted the task of being the late Joe Paterno's successor, he was told by school officials the Jerry Sandusky scandal was a criminal matter, not an NCAA concern.

That proved to be bad information as Penn State was dealt a four-year bowl ban and scholarship reductions as part of its penalties.

The sources emphasized O'Brien would not leave Penn State for just any NFL job. He bypassed an opportunity to interview for the Jacksonville job last January.

This tells me he wants a new deal because he was given bad info. I think he stays but gets the deal that he deserves!

  • I don't think B.O.B will go, this year. My question is since he evidently looked around this year, and was willing to "possibly" leave, after just one year, do you guys see it as he's gone when that "one job" comes along? Whether it's next year, or the next, etc...

Will it make recruits in the 2014 class have 2nd thoughts about if their coach will be at PSU their 4 years?

Just a couple things that would be on my mind if it was Urban.... I know I'd hate to go year to year wondering if this is the year he bolts...
