Here's the deal here. This is a complete slam and slap in your and, by extension, all the citizens of Pennsylvania's face. One thing that has always been a curiosity to me is the extent to which people in the Midwest circle the wagons - and the lack of this approach in the east. I lived in the east (NJ, Baltimore, eastern PA) for all my growing up years and moved out to the plains and to Chicago when I was in my 30s. Having people in your own state NOT supporting the Flagship institution is simply not possible in a states like Kansas, Ohio, Nebraska, etc, etc. There would be unanimous of support, and an outcry of immense proportions that would DEMAND that the pro-University side be heard. You simply would not be able to get away with this "..You just don't get it.." BS coming from these dolts that have not spent one ounce of effort informing themselves on the subject and moving from their comfortable assumptions of all that happened at PSU - Least of all from a clown that expects to get votes from the good people of Pennsylvania. The old tar & feathering and running the guy out of town on a rail should be instituted for these modern isolated Kings...

Pathetic are the people that think it matters whether capital gains are taxed at 28% or 15% or whether we should debase our fiat "money" at an annual rate of 10% or 20% annually, and then call others pathetic for not caring which side "wins" the argument. His stance on the sanctions is as relevant as on any issue, especially if you can extrapolate that to his stance on government's role in subjects like enforcing contracts. If I was still a PA resident this would matter a lot to me.
I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

I'm confused by this comment. is it not a politician that is SUING the NCAA to get the sanctions completely tossed? is is not a politician that wrote a bill specifically to force the NCA to keep the fine money in the state? was it not politicians that just grilled Erickson on the Freeh report and the NCAA? wasn't it a politician that wrote a letter asking the NCAA to reinstate the 40 scholarships?
From my seat it seem that their are a number of politicians not only involved, but leading the charge.

Yes they are, and if someone votes for them specifically because of that then that is sad. They are doing that because of votes, and not spending their time in what REALLY matters in The United States of America.
In which the Penn State sanctions is probably in the low 10,000's of important issues.

If a cut on capital gains tax is enforced, yes the richer have more money, you know what they do with that? Since they got in their position primarily focusing on a profit based industry they INVEST IN NEW IDEAS/TECHNOLOGY in order to make the next significant profit. Why? Because they are money hungry people who want to make a profit, well guess what, we live in a capitalist society which encourages that. So if you are trying to argue that economic growth won't happen with the investment of what, wealthy business owners who what, I'm sure invested years of hard work and education to be where they are, and are going to continue to make a profit, but as well as grow the ECONOMY in AMERiCA, then please, give me your argument.
Now, if you are against economic growth, China and North Korea are looking for new residents. Globalization and economic growth are inevitable, and is going to happen to matter what. If we choose to ignore it and put it off to the side, well, America won't be the country we have become accustomed to.
But you know what is funny, we are working on a free trade agreement with the EU, so globalization and trade is only going to strengthen, so sorry, the world is evolving and so is America.
The notion, that you argue that Penn States sanctions, the school I am going to be a soon graduate of in Economics, is as important as the current budget issues, unemployment, education spending in primary schools, free trade, health care and finally immigration as well as countless issues other is HISTORICAL!
