Due to new transfer rules, Penn State must figure out a way to retool its roster in just under a week. Check out how recent departures have impacted the outlook for the Lions.

  • Think same thing about Belton! I think he can blow up!

Agreed. Even with Brown leaving, I still like our young WRs, especially Allen Robinson!

  • My take moving forward:
    1. QB- should be good with Bench, PJ, and Hackenberg. I think Lucas is a decent player too.
    2. RB- I don't get why people think there is "no way" Belton can be an every down back? At the lift for life he looked pretty frickin solid to me! If no one else leaves (Lynch especially) and the staff can pick up a solid player in this recruiting class (I prefer Anderson over Clay) we should be fine.
    3. TE- Should be in very good shape! Wouldn't mind Royer going back to LB.
OL- I like what we have here for the next two years. But I think we graduate like 4-5 OL players next year. Smith, Miles, and Mangiro should be big time players. Really need guys like Stanko, Alosi, and Graham to develop/step up! Would also be nice to keep Blanchard and have him keep progressing. I've heard good things about him. I would think Nelson, Dorian, and Mahon get early playing time if they stay.
WR- I really like our current mix of players here. If they all stay, it could be our most underrated group. Good size, speed, a lot of potential, a great system, and a great position coach should result in success. They should all get a lot of meaningful game time reps this year.
DL- Need some more bodies here. I wouldnt mind seeing Wilkerson moved to DE and Wendy moved to DT. I think Gaia has more potential at OL but we need him to stay here for now because of depth concerns. JUCO/prep schools are a great place to find DL players. With that said, I don't think there is a coach I trust more than LJ so I'm confident it will work out.
LB- I really want Royer to move back. Think he is wasting his time at TE. He's a great player, just don't see how he fits on offense. I pray to the good Lord they keep Hull! Need to get Kline and Whartman game time reps this year! I think there is potential in our current recruits, but I fear they are bigger projects than anticipated. Would have been nice to lock up a prospect who could play immediately. I like Franklins upside!
DB- You all know the deal! Need bodies ASAP! I don't care what anyone says, there is a lot of good players in the JUCO/prep schools. Have to get the younger kids playing time this year.

Player development needs to be BOBs main focus moving forward. Can't waste scholarships. Locating the best players available, getting them in the right position, and making sure they keep progressing is a huge task. A lot of younger kids are gonna be thrown into the fire early. Hopefully they step up!

  • sure we can take all the transfers we want, BUT if we exceed our scholarship quota--then those transfers will have to either "pay to play" or Coach O'Brien will need to get creative with his roster and his scholarships ...
