Track season

  • Does anyone know when track season is generally over... There are a few DB recruits that report PSU interest that run track and are having trouble scheduling visits... I looked up a few of their films and they are pretty impressive... Dont wanna mention names, because my initial question is not VIP... But if you know about track seasons in general, feel free to hit me up. I only ran one year in HS, and I believe it was part of the summer... Not sure if it's the whole summer. TIA.

  • In PA regular season is done mid-May. States are around Memorial Day weekend.

But unless a track team participates in lots of weekend invitationals, most dual meets are on Thursdays, so track should not impact recruiting visits.

Thanks, +1... Funny that kids are using that as an excuse for not taking many visits...

  • Hust a side thought to your question. It's a busy time of year for high school students with exams, sports, proms to get ready for, personal lives and other extracurricular activities. Maybe that has something to do with it. The process may just overwhelm some kids especially with everything else they have on their plates.shrug

    I disagree.
Good teams have weekend invitationals at least two weekends per month.
For instance, State College has meets three weekends in a row after Easter.

Figure in spring break, and Easter, and these kids might have one weekend free per month.

Thats what I thought man... A lot of track guys are saying that they cant take many trips... Sucks because its a prime time for them to go, but they are working on their speed lol

And when you are talking about skill position guys you are talking about potentially some of the fastest guys in a given state. If you are really good at track you may also be invited to National scholastic events that usually happen in the Summer time after school is over. If kids are this good (ala Devon Smith), they are probably very involved with a track program (AAU, TAC) outside of their high school.

Most of the kids you are probably referring to are done in May though, right before that end of the school year.
