  • I saw that posted on the Pitt board before. Surprisingly a lot of them agreed. Some of them though think they could have a great atmosphere if Pitt stadium was still around. They failed to mention that their attendance still sucked at Pitt stadium (there highest ever avg attendance was something like 52,000).

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

  • Most of them hate playing at Heinz, they say it takes the college feel away from the game.

Even if its a dump, its always better to have your own stadium than to share it with a professional team. Much easier for people to get attached to, instead of playing at a rented stadium.

If attendance is a problem, they could try and build a really nice 25-30,000 capacity stadium, similar to what TCU did before they hit it big. You can have really nice facilities, and they'll look closer to full on gamedays. Plus, unless there's a huge difference like the Beav being compared to CMU, its hard to tell there's a big difference in stadium capacity.

  • I hate bleacher report... I wanted to straight punch that dude in the face. I bet the only football game he has gone to is a duke game.

  • There are so many things wrong with that program I could write a book on it. Some friends of mine go to Pitt & say their system of using school busses to get the students to & from games is a complete fiasco. No one wants to wake up early on a Saturday morning all hungover to hell and back to go sit on a bumpy school bus ride through the hill district to go watch a mediocre (and even that is generous) football team.

It's enough to actually keep a majority of the students in their dorms watching the games on FSN Pittsburgh or if they're really lucky ESPN on Thursday nights. They say student attendance gets even worse as the season goes on and that the majority of the student section leaves after they play the song Sweet Caroline. The whole university could really benefit from Pitt having their own stadium. The problem is space- there's just no room left in Oakland for a major build, even for a smaller stadium. It's just too crammed of an inner city environment (yet for some reason they like to poke fun of PSU because "it's in the middle of no where"). They had the room for it, but knocked down their old stadium & built a basketball arena. Having a stadium would even be a huge boost to a lot of the businesses in Oakland. Unfortunately, their AD doesn't see it that way.

...I almost feel bad for them, almost

Maybe Pitt could start playing PSU again but play the game every year on Paterno Field at Beaver Stadium. It would certainly boost Pitt's football revenue and if they call every other year a Home game at PSU they could also boost their attendance average. biggrin

Kinnetaw, you should never feel even 1/10th of 1% sorry for Pitt, they deserve all the unfortunate circumstances they have brought upon themselves.

I could care less if they played in a toilet and they probably couldnt even fill that bowl with fans.
