Tom Bradley on WVU radar?

  • Anyone that wants to criticize TB look at the numbers. Other than 2010, PSU defensive rankings were outstanding when TB was DC. TR's defenses haven't been that stellar statistically so to say he is an upgrade is ridiculous. If TB did what he did with the talent that he had, then just imagine what he could have done with so-called better SEC athletes. Other than the Iowa drive of 2008, I can’t remember a time where a TB defense let us down. TB’s defenses are a major reason that JoePa was able to become the all-time winningest D1 college football coach. The only reason anyone would say TR is better is because he came from the SEC and plays more a more "aggressive" style of defense. Let’s not forget that Auburn did not win the NC because of their defense which ranked 60th in Total Defense and a whopping 76th in Pass Efficiency Defense, but they were 53rd in Scoring Defense. I'm not bashing TR as I think he is a good DC, but I'm tired of the talking heads on this website bashing our old regime. Were there problems and shortcomings absolutely, but let's not forget that they are the people that made us so passionate about this program. These men are the reason we have been called a “cult” and that we pay money to talk to each other about 17 – 22 year old kids.

Bob's offense would destroy the best Bradley D.... Roof was one of the biggest upgrades in the new staff

This is one of the most ridiculous statements I’ve seen in a long time. Our offense was much improved yes, but B1G defenses were atrocious this year. OSU’s defense was the only one that was half-way decent and that is a stretch. The same argument that TB’s defenses were good against bad offenses can be made about OB’s offense, which was statistically good against bad defenses.

Hello all! Haven't posted recently, non VIP member so some may not even remember my handle, new job has kept me only at lurker status. Anyway, not that you're not allowed to have your opinion black shoes, but holgerson is actually a pretty good guy. I know this first hand as I have met him a few times, but only chatted briefly. My nephew actually plays on the team and really likes him a lot. Says he's a good guy and emphasizes the things you would want your coach to prioritize from a on and off the field standpoint. Just wanted to weigh in on this, as I kind of always thought he seemed like a bit of a d*ck too until my nephew started playing for him and told me otherwise.

Appreciate the input, but you should've posted this before it turned into a Roof/Bradley supporter pissing match.

  • I liked TB and think he was a very good DC just that the facts are what they are... the D feasted on poor offenses and too often never stepped up against legit qbs/offenses. I would love to see what kind of D Bradley would run on his own, I was just saying if he brought the PSU style to the big 12 I don't think it would go as well. As far as roof goes, we'll see but I think he's off to a fairly good start.

To say Bradley D were poor is just bull. He did what was scripted by Paterno who was a micro managers. Love Joe, but Bradley would have done much better under OB, partly because his guys would have benefitted from an improved conditioning and SC program. I do not remember any games even the ones we lost against OSU where the DL was gassed. The new SC program is day and night for the biggies, stronger and more fit.
