No greater feeling in the world then standing in the Atlanta airport with my family (while in uniform) getting ready to head to Afghanistan in '06 when a little I notice a little girl standing with her family about ten feet away just staring at me. She looks up to her parents and says something to them which they then respond with a nod. She quickly walks over to me and says "thank you" then walks back to her parents. At that point I knew leaving my family for an extended period of time was well worth it. I thought about that little girl everyday I was there and still to this day almost six years later think of her saying those simple words. I want to say thank you to her for making one of the hardest days of my life just a little easier. I also want to thank all my brothers and sisters in arms. God bless and Godspeed.
