    I have a thread on reactions from Maryland and Rutgers floating around here somewhere... Any chance you could add some input from what Maryland fans are saying?

  • Of course they hate Penn State. We have a 35-1-1 record against them and their only win was in 1961.

    You know, as lopsided as that record is, PSU beat some very good Maryland teams and held some very good Terp quarterbacks to average games.

    There were years when Maryland actually had superior talent....for example when Randy White was playing for the Terps. But it had gotten psychological by then. Maryland always found a way to lose and Penn State always found a way to win. 35-1-1 will get into your head....

  • PSU's biggest rival will always be Pitt but it's nice to no longer be the outlier of the conference and have some fellow members with a few hours driving distance. I wouldn't call it a rivalry just yet but I think it definitely has the potential to develop into one.

    Agree ... alot of people will think based on the series record that UMD is/was Temple. That wasn't the case. PSU had to work for many of those wins. Tice, Boomer, O'Donnell, Gelbaugh, Reich, Henning, Zolak ... those were pretty darn good college QBs that had nice talent around them.

    It's his MO. He does it with alot of ACC boards too when we had threads preferring to go to the ACC. He was telling us the BIG was the best for PSU, then goes to ACC boards and rips our fan base. LOL ... what a joke.

    He stays here because there are some actual posters here that think he can be a solid poster. If they would realize his true colors, they would have the idiot on ignore, like I do.

    Well it comes down to the eastern schools which were and in many cases still our PSU rivals, Pitt, WVU, MD, Rutgers, and Temple. None of the schools fan bases like or liked PSU. These moves only help us in the recruiting wars and I am extremely happy MD and Jersey area will be watching Big 10 football. I have always said our OCC games should be against our traditional rivals for the local exposure +1 big national power. I do believe the MD game should be at the ravens stadium so they can fit more PSU fans into the stadium. Either way its going to be another home game for PSU.

    I don't think we have a rival right now. I think Ohio State is our biggest opponent, but not really the same thing as a rival. I could see that changing if Maryland gets their football program together. It'd be nice to play a good team that we have a history with (a nice history, from our POV).
