Thorpe Focusing on Positives

2013 Penn State signee Geno Thorpe talks about his high school season and what he learned throughout the year.

  • I can't figure how I feel about Geno.... I'm obviously excited for him to get on campus and start working with the team, but I can't figure out what type of player he's going to be style-wise. What's your take Andrew? He had offers from some of the big boys and was billed as a PG early on, but now he's grown into more of a slasher, off-guard type. P.S. How's his spot-up and mid-range jumper game?

Geno is a scorer first and foremost. Definitely a slasher type and he should play the 2 guard spot for us the majority of the the time. He'll be real good in transition, he's a good athlete and a real good finisher.

Well we certainly need guys like that.... guys who can find ways to score are great, but I'd also love for him to come in right away and get his feet wet as a spot-up shooter. There won't be a lot of opportunities for him to dominate the ball like he did in HS, but there will be a ton of open shots available to him when Frazier, Newbill and Marshall drive the lane.

That's what Chambers brought John Johnson in for. Kid is a lights out shooter PSU hasn't had in a while

Geno will be there for after Newbill as the 2 guard. Not saying he won't contribute right away but he'll have some time to learn rather than just get thrown in there because we have no one else.

I'm really excited about John Johnson. He should give us the good shooter we have been missing what seems like forever.

Is Johnson a PG? Will be interesting to see Woodward competing at that spot behind Frazier. Kid had some legit offers.

He can handle it and run the point, but primarily you're going to see him play off the ball at the two. He can get to the rim pretty easily and has a solid pull-up jumper.

Johnson isn't really a true point - Woodward is. He's going to be studying under Frazier all season because once Tim is gone, Woodward will be running the show if you ask me.

Johnson is a scoring guard. I believe he a decent shooter.
