Not what I am saying. I am saying the Rooney rule as it was intended, brought a good DC to Pittsburgh to interview for the HC job. Thus far, Tomlin has been a better HC than the incumbent, comfortable coach (Wisenhunt). In its purest form, it is just intended to give quality minority candidates a look, an opportunity to SINCERELY interview for a coaching shot. Sometimes though, an owner may have a coach in mind or a short list- nothing wrong with that at all, as I said, I am not outraged or even mad that Lovie didn't get the job in favor of Chip Kelly. But when those minorities are just interviewed to meet the bare min requirements of the rule, it seems to cause more trouble (back door, meaningless interviews) than good. But in the end, maybe giving a guy like Tomlin a chance to impress is a greater good than Lovie interviewing with Philly to just meet the requirement while they go all out to woo Chip Kelly away from Oregon (just an example, not really saying that that's what happened). It remains to be seen. I have no clue. All I do know is that there are plenty of minority coaches waiting for that shot, hence the South Park "rable rable" from minority coaches speaking up over the zero minority coaches hired this coaching carousel cycle... I don't know exactly where to begin either. But the sentiment of phila and others that some pointing out reality is "crying" is a little close minded IMO

Tomlin better than Wisenhunt.... I'll give you that Tomilin has had more success than Wisenhunt but to say that Tomlin is a better coach based on his success alone is a bit skewed. Tomlin fell into an amazing situation and capitalized on it. Wisenhunt got a dumpster fire and actually had some success. Give Mike Tomlin Kolb and Skelton and give Wiz Ben and see what the results are.
Andy Reid also decided to coach the biggest joke in the NFL the Chiefs... who knows if Lovie would have wanted a job like that. And Lovie has shown he struggles to put together an offensive staff in Chicago, but that must be because he's black and doesn't have a big enough "network".

omg.... I never said that owners were racist. Not once. Why is that a response to what I am saying? Seriously?
And everyone when talking about Lovie says how easy he is to get along with... People said that winning is what matters and the best coaches get jobs... Look at the numbers and tell me if that makes sense... Not to mention the Carolina Panthers OC getting a job? Seriously? A Canadian league football coach? Really? Ok.

Sometimes I love your passion, RMJ, and sometimes I just can't figure out how you come up with some of your arguments. You implied that Lovie Smith hasn't been hired because he's black. If an owner isn't hiring him because of his skin color, the owner is by definition racist. It's like you want to imply that over and over again but then not acknowledge what your implication means.
