No, it doesn't. If you can play football and you're better than the next guy, then you will play. In football, plenty guys get tryouts (multiple tryouts) and have plenty of opportunities to earn a chance to play.
Playing football and coaching football are two different animals. Coaching, only a select few get opportunities based on who they know, who they've played under, etc. it's a more selective process.
To state that there is no legitimacy to that argument would be absolutely naive. Fact is that their is a discriminatory factor in the coaching profession, but I don't believe it's an epidemic as some are preaching. It's to a certain extent, and I believe there is progress being made.

This thread began as a very good discussion in which bluey and rmj both presented valid reasonable points, then philafan gets involved and brings the discussion down to lowest common denominator talk radio style arguments. Lock this thread up because its gonna get ugly. I can see the "Philly" in Philafan.

No one is crying, no one said anything is unfair. Just discussing the situation at hand. If you can't have a discussion like an adult then just don't talk. It's no good just assuming people's attitudes and resorting to name calling because you can't articulate a valid point.
Yeah people are upset, but no one in here is crying or calling owners racist. At least read our posts before responding.

Not true at all. That's not just the NFL, that's everywhere. There's always bias in any selection process. It's like saying notre dame was the best team to play in the Title game based on their résumé compared to Oregons or another SEC team. It simply isn't true.
Doesn't mean owners or racist, just means that opportunities are not as abundant and every selection process is as equal as people would like to think.
