The Penn State Bar thread...

  • Looking for a new bar in Baltimore to head to this season. When i first moved down here, i went to City Limits for the afternoon games, but that place really emptied out the past couple years. Now it's No Idea in Fed Hill for day games and Mad River for prime time night games. Anyone have any suggestions for the east side of the city, closer to Canton?

Definitely going to hit that up, I'm moving to Hoboken in a few weeks and that sounds awesome. I've heard good things about Tonic on non-game days, FWIW.

I live in Hoboken now. The North NJ Alumni Association chapter meets at Texas Arizona for the games. It is the bar right across from the PATH.

There are a ton of Penn State alums in Hoboken so its a good time. The place really tries hard to accomodate us and gives us the whole back room.

They sometimes try to do events for the games as well. Last year for the Minnesota game, they did a beer tasting which inluded a buffet with foods made using the different beers.

Tonic is awesome too. Its really great on a nice fall day if you can get a spot on the roof. Definitely need to get there early though.

Tonic is fun on a normal night too, but tends to get very crowded.

    PSU Harrisburg Alumni Chapter

I go to all the home games so I'm not sure what bars around the Harrisburg area are "PSU bars" to watch the games at.

Just bought a home a few months ago and am working on a man's cave, probably will have that finished for the 2012 football season.

Ha...doing the same thing. 2012 is a good goal but I am spending a lot of time on the RV for the home games.

As for PSU Bar around the area, not sure of anything official but Arooga's 11 and Arooga's 15 are both fun places to watch games. Lot's of TV's and great wings. Try to avoid Arooga's 22.

  • Blondies East and West in NYC are big ten bars...not bad and a little older and calmer crowd than Tonic East. Tonic is great for late afternoon games because after the game tonic is a good time

You might be thinking of Willie McBride's on Grand? Texas Arizona is much more of a PSU bar for Hoboken, though.

That's what I've heard regarding Arooga's. I live right off of Linglestown Rd. and there is an Arooga's about 2 miles from my house.

I'm in Stamford, CT and not an alum also. Hartford is a little too far for me. I believe I will be treking to Tonic East for games given that it is 40 minutes by train to NYC if you catch the express

I am historically a west shore guy (although just moved back to the east shore this week), so I am much more familiar with the Aroogas 11 and Aroogas 15, but I will say Linglestown Road is much better than 22. I have friends that live near Widener Law School and we hit up Aroogas Linglestown Road quite a bit.

I've been to Scottsdale multiple times, was hoping Zips would be the spot for PSU games...their wings are unreal.

  • If you are in Los Angeles, Hollywood, West Hollywood or Beverly Hills, The Parlor on Melrose Avenue is the new home for the PSU alumni. It is a cool spot and offers specials to Penn State fans. They will be open at 8:30 AM this weekend. Here is the info on the bar - http://www.theparlorca.com/

  • Agree with Monaghan's, that's the place to go to watch PSU in San Francisco. They even play the fight song after PSU scores a TD. Pretty solid for watching games on the west coast.
