    Is Iowa a major offer?

We'll take whatever kids Notre Dame lets us...

Didn't see the Iowa offer, sorry.

  • So I gotta ask ...

First, I thought Greg Oden looked 40 when he played hoops for OSU. So Golden doesn't look that old, but he does not look like the average teenager. Just saying.

The real question ... I saw the Altoona Mirror article on his commitment. It states that he transfered and repeated his junior year in order to improve his academics. OK, good for anyone who makes a commitment to improve his academics. But is he eligible to play high school football still? How many years does a kid have to play? Assuming he played as a freshman, he'll have a five year playing career?

    Somebody correct my logic here.

And yes, I know kids take athletic redshirts early, like pre-first grade in private school to give them an advantage, and kids may repeat grades earlier than high school. But repeating in high school and playing?

His school is actually allowed to have a few 'post-graduates' play, so I believe Golden's situation would fall under the realm of being a post-grad eligibility wise, so he is good to go.

That sounds a lot like what happened with Dion Lewis (although I'm not sure if he did it to focus on academics). That is why he could leave Pitt for the NFL after just 2 years.

It's a school for grades 6-Post-grad, students are allowed to attend for one year after graduation (if they pay for it) and still play varsity football. In the league they play in up there, it's not all that uncommon from what I know.

Actually if he repeated the 11th grade, he isn't a post-grad though. Not that it matters much, other than those opponents that wish he would get out of there.
