The Crow Diner **Official I was wrong thread**

  • Figured we could have an official crow eating thread, since none of us are perfect and the internet seems to draw predictions out of people. Whenever it's crow dinner time, feel free to just come on in and post.

Anyway I've been waiting for a couple weeks now for my admission as I didn't want to be a potential playoff jinx.

I must east some crow on Russel Wilson, I didn't think he would have anywhere near the success in the NFL that he had last year at Wisky. I was way wrong on him.

  • Mike Hull. I was really convinced that he was too small to be effective. Loved his game out of HS, but he just seemed so small to me.

Proved me wrong this year. Still has to get stronger, but he will be an effective LB for us.

new-era said... Psu doesnt have enough to beat the conferences better teams and wiscy is one of them.

  • Two off the top of my head.

I thought there was no way a starter would transfer last year. Still standing by the same prediction for next year.

I predicted a win over OSU since the preseason.

  • Love this idea. It should be interesting to see if the posters who have the most crow to eat will actually show up with a knife and fork (I doubt it).

I can't remember how much I wrote about it, but I thought Sam Ficken was cooked after the Virginia game, that there was no way he'd be able to make a meaningful kick again. He's no All-American yet but his comeback was one of the best stories of the year.

  • Paul Jones. I thought he would push for time this year and then be the starter for the next 2. Good luck at RMU buddy

  • Allen Robinson and Kyle Carter come over and feed me my crow every night. Jesse James is pissed off I only allow two at a time.

If you've never eaten crow you haven't lived.

  • Although I never posted it on the board, I did drunk dial Dave Joyner a few times last January questioning the O'brien hire.

Will gladly eat crow. Doesn't taste so bad if there's a nice dipping sauce and chased with an IPA.

I remember your thoughts on Wilson and must admit I was going to give you a little dig at some point. I was higher on him than you were but I truly never thought he was capable of this as a pro either. In fact I don't know anyone who thought he would be this good. Did anyone think he would be this good in the NFL ever, let alone this quickly?

  • Never thought McGloin could lead us to an 8 win record this year. Thought he didn't have the tools or decision making to be a good QB at this level. I was wrong. Good coaching and big time commitment from MM proved me wrong!!

  • Was wrong about BOB, for one. Can't remember any others off the top of my head, but I've been wrong plenty before and they'll come to me.

  • That whole Iowa game week. OOOOOOPPPPSSSS

And Jesse James ahd no chance to start and should be RSed anyways to grow into his body both strength and coordination-wise, and see if he may expand past TE into OT.

I didn't know he'd be as good as he has shown but I remember singing his praises before we played them and before the Heisman ceremony. He was just as good (as a college player) as RG3.

  • 1. I wasn't happy about the O'Brien hire when it was reported, mainly because I knew nothing about him and assumed he was our 14th choice. I quickly came around once I saw how he was approaching the situation. Turns out he was the best guy for the job (for now).

    2. Paul Jones - thought this kid was going to get it together with some solid coaching. Egads.

Now, for a "pay it forward" crow moment, I am going to say that Matt Stankiewitch never plays a down in the NFL. Re-watching the games, I have grown tired of watching him get pushed into the backfield every other play. Have no idea how he got first-team BIG.

Make me eat some crow, Stank.

  • Charter member of the ABM club. (Anybody But McGloin)). Shows what a kid with all the intangibles if not all the physical tools plus great coaching can accomplish. Glad to eat crow. Pass me another helping.

  • BOB and Moxie have served me enough crow to last me the winter. Jesse James and ZZ served up the side dishes.

On the flip side, Paul Jones served up some spoiled desert.

I thought Wilson was a great college quarterback, but I never watched him and thought his game would translate this well (or this quickly) in the NFL. There are lots of college players I think are fantastic but don't think will do much in the NFL.

  • Who predicted that Redd had a "good chance" (or was it a "very good chance") to be a Heisman contender?

  • Roof, after the Ohio game I had the lynching rope tied with all 13 knots, ready to drag him to old main and hang him from an Elm tree. He made a great come back.

Agreed. I thought he had as good a chance to be good as anyone not named Luck, meaning it was a crapshoot. I did think he should have been the 3rd QB taken. I was just surprised people thought he was overrated in college and only successful because of Montee Ball.

  • Thought Bolden would turn it around....

Never thought that Redd would be a guy to transfer and thought he would be much better than he is.

Was not a fan of the BOB's hire.

    This could take a while.....
