Temple game just got harder...

they landed the BC all time leading rusher VIA transfer Montel Harris... DAMN fine running back..... Roof has 4 tough games to kick off his career here...

As I recall, we beat them a couple of times with a pretty good running back, Bernard Pierce.

It's really the opposite, because that is a very big if, especially with our current quarterback, who isnt exactly a productivity machine. An interception here or a 3-and-out there is what makes the 10 minute touchdown drives navy is known for so effective. All the pressure is on our O; Navy does this every single week, and it can be deadly for far superior teams, let alone wildcards like the 2012 Lions.

PSU should prevail but man will Navy be tough.

Well I agree that if our offense struggles it's going to be a rough game, but I think PSU wins barring our offense completely imploding. My point was if our offense can move the ball and score points, we win easily. Now given our QB situation, who knows if they can do that.

  • Temple has talent. Plus, they have a very good QB this year. They have to rebuild their offensive line, but they are not a push over.

I disagree. They lost A LOT of talent from last year. This will be one of the easiest games on PSU's schedule.

  • Temple still has talent on its roster. Coyer is a very good QB. They are solid at running back as well. They need to rebuild the offensive line, but it is not like Temple from 10 years ago where they had no depth and they had a parade of junior college kids come in. They lost talent but they still have talent and they will not be a push over.

  • It's not just their OL. They lost half of their defense as well. Coyer is okay and the BC kid is good, but outside of those two, they are terrible.

I agree. Temple won't be a push over anymore. They definitely are a different Temple team from what they were in the 90s and early 2000s. I don't think they'll give us fits like they did each of the last two seasons but stranger things have happened. I think part of that was because of our conservative staff.

"I think the whole Temple team presents a problem.. And I think they're very, very sound. They've gotten better each year.

The kid you're talking about is a fine player. Does a lot of things really well. And they ask him to do a lot of things. But they've got a couple other people, they've got a couple of down kids who are big offensively.

I think this is going to be a tough ball game, a really tough ball game. They're obviously are going to come up here...they know a lot about us, the three kids that played for us, and they've got momentum.

They've played a couple of good teams since. Central Michigan is a good team and Villanova is ranked the best in their division (FCS) by far. And they beat them in a tough ball game. And they had a tough one with a good Connecticut team, (which) lost by four points to Michigan.

So, I think when you start pointing out one individual, yeah, he's a good football player. But they've got a lot of other good football players. This is a good, solid football team that we're going to play."

    Wha? What just happened?

  • Yeah i'm not that worried about Temple this year. They lost a lot of talent. Coyer isn't bad, but he doesn't have a ton of experience.

Virginia is really the only OOC game that scares me. It actually scares me a ton.

BTW has anyone heard if Philip Sims will be eligible this fall? Haven't heard anything further on his hardship request.

Won't be any harder than it was defending Bernard Pierce. Regardless, our problem on defense isn't going to be how we stack up against any runningback... It's gonna be about how our secondary holds up against big-time talents at QB and WR. I wouldn't worry about any team being more of a run-oriented offense against us. It plays right into our hands.

interesting view point, had temple kept using pierce on us in the second half i don't know if they don't get a couple more field goals and actually beat us. Bernard was playing pretty well against our guys that game...and they kept switching QB;s if i remember correctly

  • Coyer is the best QB Temple has had in a very long time. Temple should be more balanced this year. They just need their offensive line to come together. I am not saying they are a top 25 team, but they have some talented kids. PSU is not in the position to overlook any team. There is not a team on the schedule that PSU can just show up and win.

    MillerLatte

  • Temple may have talent, but as we saw last year, their coaching leaves quite a bit to be desired.

    This.

Similar speech can be given for Navy.

Navy lost a ton of players from last year. If we arent destroying Navy and Temple this year we are in for a very, very long season.

  • For clarification, Harris got booted from BC.
