    That's what I was thinking.

  • No, graduate transfer rules apply and allow him to play immediately.

    Andrew Dzurita

  • Nope. He is good to go for 2012.

  • "After receiving a medical redshirt, the recent Boston College has one more season of eligibility. Harris was able to transfer without sitting out a year by taking graduate courses at Temple that are not offered at Boston College."

  • yea he is good to go for 2012... He had a medical hardship waiver for the extra year plus he graduated... So you can bet Temple is going to run.... OU, Navy, and Temple are all ground & pound teams... and Virginia on the road is no cake walk....Hill, Carson, & Hodges better be ready to tackle.

  • Won't be any harder than it was defending Bernard Pierce.
Regardless, our problem on defense isn't going to be how we stack up against any runningback... It's gonna be about how our secondary holds up against big-time talents at QB and WR.
I wouldn't worry about any team being more of a run-oriented offense against us. It plays right into our hands.

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

  • Harder yes, but into our strength. Front seven versus our secondary...I'll take that every Saturday!!!

well those that were tired of watching bradley run defenses will finally get their wish.. if he sends secondary players on blitzes, butler better teach them how to effectively do it.. far too many times in college do i see corners blitz and run themselves out of the play.. we don't have the type of talent to compensate for that type of mistake.. on the bright side, may see some exciting shoot outs if roof's defense backfires..

Agree. Solid defensive gameplan and we shouldn't have much of a problem if we execute.

  • Temple won't be that tough of a game . . . . A lot of their previous solid defensive kids are in the NFL.

  • How is this that bad of thing. Now if it was a stud QB who could pick apart our suspect secondary, I'd be worried, but I've got confidence in our front seven.

  • Navy, Temple & Indiana should be our 3 easiest games.
Ohio might give a few fits, but we should pull away & win by 17 or so.

    Wow. Where do I begin?

Navy runs the triple option, probably better than anyone in the country including GT.

Ohio State had an entire off season to prepare and still had major major issues. PSU will have a week to prepare.

Why is the triple option so hard to prep for? First, very few teams run it, and even fewer have a scout team that can run it at the pace Navy does with the execution they have. Second, the blocking scheme Navy employs is cut blocks. It's not dirty or illegal. It's very effective. No team or coach in the country is going to have the scout team running cut blocks on the 1st team defense. Just not happening.

Lastly, by the time the defense adjusts we are in the 2nd half and it's tighter than we really want.

PSU should beat Navy but it ain't going to be as easy as some here think.

I think that depends on our offense. If they move the ball and score points, pressure will be on Navy to keep up, and that can help take them out of their game.

Navy lost a lot from an already bad team last year. They will be coming off a trip to Ireland 2 weeks before, and trust me, I know all about the triple option and blocking scheme.

    That said...

    1. Navy always loses a lot, as does Army.

    2. They have a bye after the ND game, and why do I think Navy kids can handle international travel better than most?

Navy should be a win, but their uniqueness makes them a tough opponent.

  • They are going to to give us fits. They give ND fits every year, they should have beaten Ohio State and S Carolina last year.

They lost a lot, sure. It will be up to our offense to force them to throw and play from behind. They are going to control the clock.

    Tough team to prep for

Did I read somewhere that Navy was going to have a little bit more of a passer and less a runner at QB this year? Could be good or bad news depending on how good a passer, if true.

    POV

  • They kid who should be starting is a better passer but still a very good runner.

    We shall see though.

It's really the opposite, because that is a very big if, especially with our current quarterback, who isnt exactly a productivity machine. An interception here or a 3-and-out there is what makes the 10 minute touchdown drives navy is known for so effective. All the pressure is on our O; Navy does this every single week, and it can be deadly for far superior teams, let alone wildcards like the 2012 Lions.

PSU should prevail but man will Navy be tough.
