Temple Best Team In Pa?

  • After horrific performances by Pitt and PSU I really believe Temple is the best team in the state this yr. the Pitt fans actually think they will win 6 games and there is no way. Same boat as PSU a 3 to 4 win team.

    PSU was hardly a "horrific" performance. We lost to a legit team. I think we should have steam rolled them but we didnt. Next week will be better I think.

    We will find about Temple and PSU in three weeks.

    This is a new low, even for you. I'm as pessimistic as anyone about the season and the next decade, but this post is a major fail.

  • Classic over reaction. Even with the players lost and subpar recruiting class last year, do you think temple has more talent than PSU? Hell no. That being said, think about what's happened- new offensive playbook and new defensive playbook. I think it was griese said it perfect during the game yesterday, college is not like the pros. BOB can spend 24-7 with his players to teach them every little piece of the playbook. Its going to take time. On top of this, we have 7 out of 22 returning starters...a lot of them are really young. There are a lot of red shirt freshmen playing that haven't played in a live football game in over a year. Add in emotions and expectations along with actually playing a good underrated team...that equals an uphill battle. Just relax man. It's the first game! Could this happen the rest of the season? Yes. Will the team get better and grow? Yes. Will you always see the glass half empty? Fo sho!

  • Let's end the negative comments. Phill Steele the best in the business; stated at the beginning of the year that Ohio was a very good team top to bottom and PSU was going to have their hands full. Many people on this board said he was a quack because he did not say what they wanted to hear. You need to face facts, this is a good serviceable team that got beat by a very good team that is most likely going to win the MAC. PSU will be good but we have to be patient and let them start to gel. I was very happy with the way this team came out in the first half and was very surprised how far off the receivers the DB's were playing. Ohio made an adjustment in the second half and took away many of the short routes. I thought the receivers were running good routes and I thought the O line did a good job. The D on the other hand puzzled me more later. Come mid Oct this team is going to be very good and they are going to beat someone everyone thought they should lose too.

    While I agree with you that PSU will improve the only thing I disagree with what you said was that the kids didn't know the system. It seemed to me that knowing the plays wasn't the problem for PSU. Offensively I thought the team stopped executing in the 2nd half between McGloin missing throws and the WR dropping passes the were plenty of mistakes but I never felt like the kids didn't know the plays. Defensively, I blame the coaches for not adjusting to what Ohio did in the second half and because of that the D was on the field too long and started wearing down. I never felt like a lack of knowledge of the playbook was an issue.

    This is a new low, even for you. I'm as pessimistic as anyone about the season and the next decade, but this post is a major fail.

    It's not a surprise ... people like that are never satisfied and will pull the negative out of every single situation.

    If winning was easy even losers would do it.
