Why has the faith warn off on Fera as a PK... That's what he was originally brought in for, and he was actually ranked nationally. Are his accuracy and consistency that bad? I'm sure Ficken will do fine, and he has some impressive makes on film. I'm not really worried either. Although a true freshman kicker, kicking in a pressure situation with the game on the line is a little concerning... Let's hope we never put him in that situation, and if we do, it is well within his range...

I'm pretty sure that I have heard that Fera's accuracy beyond 40 was sub-par. Also, "inconsistent" has been used with his placekicking abilities.

I can't complain too much though... having a guy who is a good punter and absolutely kills the ball on KO is a very nice thing to have.

Ah, that makes sense then... Give the Ficken kid a shot. I'm sure he will be the starter if that is the case with Fera. I just hope the true freshman can mentally take the big kick in a pressure situation. I can see at least one of our games coming down to a kick. I guess we'll see. It will make for a dramatic Saturday nonetheless.

1. Kicker - Fera was the #1 HS kicker in the country - but very few players in college football have successfully handled punting and place-kicking duties simultaneously.

2. New starters at C & RG- regardless who plays QB - if he has pressure in his face and can't step into his throws it will be tough to take advantage of all the talent Penn State has at receiver.

3. Safeties - Sukay and Astorinio should be healthy - but will their play be improved? Nothing destroys a defense more than a missed assignment or tackle by a safety - and PSU had problems from the very first game (TD on 80 yard screen pass by Younstown State).
