Story: Penn State lands No. 13

  • We all know ESPN is not known for their recruiting expertise...which is why the write up about Bradshaw's commitment is all about his playing WR in college. Great reporting there!!

  • I have a feeling Zach is going to pan out like another couple certain undersized 3 star recruits with regional offers....biggrin

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

  • Does this commitment impact our class ranking? Curious to see where we could be with this addition along with one or two after the weekend.

If the 2 I think you are suggesting happen, could be a pretty big jump...

Edit: And we just moved from 12 to 11 and over-took Auburn. Bradshaw doin work before he steps foot on campus

  • Any chance they try Bradshaw out at OLB and maybe move him to SS? They want him to play in space, cover inside receivers, and be around the ball. Kind of sounds like a SS in a cover 1 man to man defense to me. Only point this out if they decide on taking 5 LB's. I know we used to play the cover 3 with 2 safety's deep, but if you play press coverage, usually you just have a single safety back and putt the SS on the TE or the slot.

  • It almost sounds like they want him as sort of a S/OLB hybrid. The idea of a Penn State LB lined up against a slot WR is something I'm going to have to get used to. But it also makes me feel a bit better. I could not picture him as a traditional OLB, so this role makes more sense to me. Plus, he's got a great head on his shoulders, so that's always a plus.

    gemrich

  • Really like the potential that this kid has. He's got superb athleticism and instincts on the field that will hopefully allow him to thrive at the OLB position in Roof's defensive scheme. Also, he appears to have a good head on his shoulders, something that seems to be a common characteristic of this recruiting class. I would imagine he has the smarts considering he has offers from the likes of Duke and Northwestern and the fact that he is going on missions to other countries suggest he's a kid with solid character.

Great question. I thought of this earlier after I found out he committed and especially after reading palehorse's comments about Ted Roof's scheme. If he has the speed, I say go for it. He has the frame.

  • I was really hoping for this commitment. Versatile athlete with a lot of raw material to mold.

Congrats to Zach, the Bradshaw family, and the PSU staff.

Where was it you read about Roof's scheme?

  • Sean,
After looking at film, I would say that both Bell and Bradshaw are home runs. Bradshaw is a faster Sean Lee and Bell is a bigger Bowman. Good stuff.

If we can get Benton and somebody like Freddy Stevenson ( fast and hits real hard ) from Bartow, Florida, we would have 4 new potential NFL linebackers. I live in Lakeland, Fl now having moved from State College a few years ago and actually saw Stevenson play last year. He's a stud but Fl St is all over him right now. And, if Fl doesn't get a backer( our boy Anzalone), they will be after him, too. If we can get Anzalone soon, that would be great but he seems to have a star syndrome and somebody like Stevenson would quietly get it done.

    That's my 2 cents. Thanks!

These seem like reasonable expectations. A faster Sean Lee and a bigger Bowman.

Sorry, looks like your first post, this is hazing.

The sarcastic side of you as of late is priceless. Is this a product of insomnia due to little ones at home?

In social situations I am sarcastic pretty much all the time. Being sarcastic on message boards can be risky. People misjudge intent all the time, which is why I try to avoid arguing on message boards (email as well for that matter). I can tell you that I have typed out more than a few borderline posts before deciding the chance for causing offense was too great. I spent the first 25 years of my life intent on winning every argument I ever took part in. That was tiring. Being a pussy is less stressful (I'm kidding...... mostly).
