Story: Corbett taking on NCAA

  • danmcc said...

If this suit comes about I would hope it stays separate from the PA case. I want to tie up as many NCAA lawyers as possible. Additionally I would like to see a suit from former players, current players and a class action from Pennsylvania business owners who lost revenue due to the sanctions. Absolutely bury the NCAA for the actions of the a$$hat fighter Emmert.

Do you think that will happen? Like, next suit comes from the Paternos, then the former and current players, and then finally, from the local business owners? (Serious question). I reallllllly hope they do it and in that order. Godd, and then i would like to look at Emmert's face. That assclown! frustrated

  • no question if it comes out it will be seperate. i would think it would be of the slander and defamation of character variety

I have no idea but each has a unique angle to separately go after the NCAA.

Paterno = defamation and marketability of legacy
Former players, I'm less clear on their grievance but I assume they would lose marketability with loss of wins
Current players = damaged marketability to NFL due to a weakened team and loss of exposure in bowls, potential risk of injury due to increased playing time due to lack of depth brought about by scholarship reductions.
Local business owners = clearly have lost substantial revenue due to unwarranted sanctions.

Whether each case wins or loses it at least ties up the NCAA lawyers for a less focused case against any of the above and the PA case.

For the lawyers. How does the fact that the NCAA refused to accept the appeal from the Paterno's? Again, ignoring their own procedures for due process. PSU could waive their due process but could not do that on behalf of a former employee.

its my understanding by denying the appeal, they opened the doors for a federal suit.

  • Any news on the lawsuits (Corbett's and Corman's)? The last time I looked, the Paterno's lawsuit was supposed to be forthcoming, along with a few others. Does anyone have an update?
