Let's see what Urby does with one of the only offensive weapons he has.

He is an offensive weapon? Really? I don't know why these preseason mags are jumping on this kid as a pre-season All-American type. He won't even be first team all-Big 10.

Stoneburner is a decent offensive player, and that makes him a rarity on that roster right now. It's a hit to them if he's suspended, regardless of whether or not he's excellent relative to the rest of CFB. He's very good relative to the rest of that roster.

Urbs won't suspend him. We have seen this movie before.

He had 14 catches last year and pre season mags think he is the second coming of XXX (insert stud TE prospect). He is decent, but no where close to being an AA player.

  • 7 of those 14 catches were for TDs. I'll take that that production any day.

3 of those TDs were against Akron and another against Toledo. If you're still impressed, you can have it.

  • Come now, Urban Meyer made HEAVY use of the TE. In his senior year, Hernandez caught 65 passes for 850yards. This coming off a season where he had 35 for 650, while competing with Percy Harvin and Luis Murphy for touches in the air.

Buckeye QBs traditionally pretend the TE doesn't even exist, especially since Ben "Bounce Catch" Hartsock was around. Stonebrunner, IMO, was in line to have a huge year - especially with an utter lack of game breaking WRs.

Exactly ... and when you consider he tied for the team lead in catches - freakin 14 ... that should tell you the weapons at WR were few and far between. It was the first time they really tried to go to the TE because they had no choice.

  • I don't know what the big deal is. Urb is gonna give him some token suspension, ie the traditional OSU way like the one they dole out for Pryor et al for the first 5 meaningless games.

Lets check their schedule for next year, hmmm, he will be suspended for Miami (OH) and Central Fla games, and return just in time for the Cal game.

They're playing Cal? Interesting. Keenan Allen is a big time talent, but I wonder if they have the QB to pull that off.

    EDIT

I've come to think of Cal as the poor version of Michigan under Lloyd Carr.

Hernandez had 35 receptions for 381 yards his sophomore year. Not sure where you got 650. The 65/850 year for Hernandez is pretty much the only time Meyer has utilized the TE. Not much of a track record, especially since that was the year he lost a bunch of his receivers (Harvin and Murphy both, along with 1-2 others maybe).

Cal - year after year one of the biggest national disappointments ... alot of talent - little return.

Yeah but i thunk 5 of them were in the first two weeks....Stonebrunner is average.

Like I said, a poor man's Michigan under Carr.

Llyod carr's Michigan teams consitently won 9+ games per season....Cal is nowhere near that.

Lloyd Carr had a 75% win pct, Cal (under Tedford) wins 62% of their games. Thats a large difference.

Basically, Michigan did perform well most of the time and if they underachieved at all, it would be a national level. Cal doesnt perform consistently in the PAC-12, lets not even talk about the national level. Cal is considered to be good if they go 8-4. Michigan under Carr was considered to have a bad season at 8-4.

  • They were urinating outside a restaurant, police shined a spotlight on them and they ran. They stopped running and were arrested.

Pretty lame. I can't imagine they're going to be suspended very long.

I can't stand tOSU but that is f'n ridiculous unless there is more to the story! Cops that charged with obstruct for that need to give their head a shake. Shouldn't be charged or suspended imo.

  • Stoneburner & the other guy are "suspended indefinitely" as of today. Which, of course, means suspended until the first day of pre-season training so it doesn't matter anyway.

I wouldn't even have done that. I would have said "we're dealing with this internally, and I'm not going to say what that means".

Replace that with McGloin and where his TDs came from.

Normally I'd totally agree but I think in this case Urbz is trying to come off sounding like it's a "harsh" penalty even though in reality it's virtually nothing. It's all about perception
