i'm not going to argue about the facts. ray lewis pled to obstruction of justice. i dont think he's a saint and i understand the reaction of people that feel he doesn't deserve a statue. i just wonder if the people that are calling him a murderer are the same people that get so upset when other people just assume joe hid a pedophile.

If you actually read the public transcript of the case and the interviews from the investigator, you would know that he actually ended up testifying against the two guys who committed the murders. He got obstruction of justice because he refused to talk to the police and help in the investigation after they accused him of the crime, and he invoked his right to an attorney. Yeah, he took a plea bargain for obstruction of justice, but that plea was made by the DA because they knew they really had no case against him, and used it as a bargaining chip to not lose the whole case. In the end, even with Lewis testimony against the two guys who committed the murders, the other guys still got acquitted.
Does that make him a hero or blame free, hell no. But my point is that he was not the murderer that everyone has dubbed him to be. Even the two investigators came out and said that they should have never charged him in the matter, but the only reason they did him was because there was a lot of pressure from the media. Well Ray got his day in court, and even testified against the guys that committed the murders.
How long are we going to sit around, piss and moan, and compare every situation to the tragedy that happened at Penn State? But at the same time, we're going to b*%ch about the fact that ESPN and BTN bring it up during the broadcast of every game.
Let's let the damn court cases play out, win our lawsuits against the NCAA (seems like the Paternos are jumping in on it too), and move on and celebrate when we get our vindication, instead of looking to celebrate or taint every other person or incident thats related to sports. (Yes, that was a run-on sentence before someone decides to point it out to me.)

I don't want to get into Joe vs. Ray. Instead, who the hell would make a statue of a guy who admitted to tampering with a murder investigation? At best, he hurt an unsolved double murder. Seems a terrible choice for a statue (I'm not for statues in general really, but this is worse than any other I've seen).
