I look at it like this:
Put yourself in the shoes of an opposing defensive coordinator. Who would be tougher to gameplan against? Who would you rather see behind center if you were leading the defense against PSU?

You think Luke Fickell is gonna be worried about Matt McGloin playing quarterback? GTFO. Even if he's not as polished, you know darn well that every opposing defensive coordinator on our schedule would be much more worried about Paul Jones lining up under center than Matt McGloin.

Why would you think that? You really think the new staff won't play the best option on their roster? Really?

McGloin beat OSU? WTF? Penn State beat OSU. The defense, RB's and wildcat QB's all played a bigger role in the victory than McGloin. Getting back to the article in the OP, of BOB's ten commandments, how many does McGloin meet? Less than half? Disregarding Fisher's statement, BOB said, “I have a pretty good idea about the quarterback situation.” IMO, that doesn't mean he knows who the starter will be. It means he knows what he has to work with and has a plan going into training camp.

"The Mox" did nothing to beat OSU. His defense and the wildcat won that game. Just because he was behind center, lets not act as if he did anything to win the game.

I won't be surprised if MM starts. But I also won't be surprised if by big ten season he is simply being average and Jones makes a push for the job. Personally, I hate the idea of starting MM and going to just a "decent" bowl game and then starting a new qb again next year. I'd rather go 7-5 this year with Jones so he is really settled in by next year...then going 8-4 or 9-3 with MM just to go to a slightly better bowl game.

I also have my doubts about MM in this offense still. Teams will play bump coverage and his short passes will have to be pinpoint accurate. I don't have faith in that.

BOB is going to play the QB best matched to this team's abilities. We all want the opportunity for big, exciting plays on offense; but that isn't this team. This will be ball control, YAC, limit turnovers, field position offense.

What were PJ's best plays at Blue/White? Broken/athletic plays. They are tantalizing but they don't resonate with a philosophy of "precision", "no turnovers", "timing", etc...

McGloin is a 2-1 TD to INT guy. Has completed ~55% of his passes.
Has to be McGloin. It won't be pretty but the explosive plays will come from Redd, Belton, Smith, and Brown. Need to get to over 20 points per game in the big Big 10 games and we can compete this year. Will be anxious to see what PJ will be able to do after a year of coaching up with this staff.

McGloin gets the game 1 nod

I really don't know why some are you are surprised by this

BOB probably got to the end of spring practice and immediately realized that Steven Bench gives us the best chance to win now.
