So I'm at Busch Gardens today

  • And this is the first time in forever I've seen PSU gear out in force FAR and away the majority of school gear....

    LOVE IT

  • Nice stuff, phila. Glad you had a good experience while out and about today. I have a Chapter Board meeting to go to tonight and I'm wearing my PSU gear, as always.

  • Stand up for our University, not back down for the actions of a few.

I know it is tough, but there is no reason to be ashamed to be PSU alumni and friends. 99.99% of people associated with PSU had nothing to do with this mess. Unfortunately, high profile individuals did so media attention as at an all-time high and also irrational right now due to emotions. We should not and will not accept being labeled as enablers to a child predator.

PSU will now become the leader in child abuse prevention and also the safest place for a kid to be. We need to learn from the mistake, respect the victims with whatever they need (money, counseling, etc..), and continue to become a better place.

It has been a nightmare for the past 8 months, but this report is a big step towards the truth and moving us a step closer where it does not even cross our mind "should I wear my PSU stuff today?"

I will say this, I am guilty of caring about sports (especially football) too much. But so are the people calling for the death penalty and what not. That is completely missing the point of this mess. It went much higher than football. This was about more than sports or football.

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

  • Love it. I will not be backing down, I know that much.

  • I've made it a point to wear my PSU gear pretty regularly and I'm out here in enemy territory in Iowa. After the scandal originally broke, I would wear a Penn State hate and my jersey even more! I had my mother try to tell me to take it off and I said I'd never do it because no matter what I am proud to be a fan of PSU and I will support them through the toughest of times. I'm glad that other fans do the same (not that I didn't expect it from the best fan base in the country).

  • I was at Disney World about a month ago and PSU gear blew away everybody else, including home town Florida and Florida State. I didn't even count mine or my son's either :).
Lots of proud Penn Staters out there.

  • I actually just got back from Cancun on Saturday and saw 5 or 6 people down there with PSU gear on.

  • I was at Disney and Sea World in May. I saw more Bama and LSU than Penn State, but PSU was the most represented Big10 school.

    Riverhoundz

  • I mentioned this before, but I was at a campground for a Phish show in Saratoga Springs NY. More PSU gear than maybe all other colleges combined discounting Syracuse. Of all the things other fanbases are saying of us, the most insulting is that PSU alum and fans should be burning their gear and keeping their heads down. Now is the time to represent PSU and all try to be better at everything we do, whether it be to atone for the sins of our leaders, or just to change the perception of Penn State.

Great freaking post and I'm Catholic! Maybe ND should lose their football program because of pedophile priests.

For the less intellectually gifted among us (namely you), there are a couple of minor little flaws in your analogy. First, and most importantly, the majority of the German people willingly participated in and condoned the activities of the Nazis. The offense at Penn State was committed by ONE MAN, with four others bearing some level of as-yet-to-be-determined-in-a-court-of-law culpability. Not the majority of the faculty, nor the student body, nor the alumni. Second, I presume you're still saluting the American flag, proud of our military, and generally patriotic? If so you are a hypocrite, because this nation killed millions of native Americans, enslaved millions of African Americans, conducted harmful drug testing on our own citizens, had members of the military commit heinous acts of rape and murder in foreign countries, and has had many corrupt leaders. Yet we all remain loyal and proud - why? Because those acts represented a variance from our belief system, they were an aberration to our founding principles. Same applies here. Now go get f*ed.

  • I was in Erie Pa for a three day trip. I had on my PSU gear on monday and there were alot of Penn St shirts at the zoo.

  • I find it interesting the reactions of those whom I come in contact with while I'm wearing PSU garb. On vacation this week, golfing in Kiawah, SC. Several golfers have commented that the sanctions are a ridiculous over reaction. Interestingly, I expected no comment from most, but they approach me. One LSU fan is more hacked off at our administration for not fighting the over reach because of the implications for other schools. Like I said, it's been interesting and unexpected.
