Silas Redd transfers to USC

  • NittanyEagles said...

@Devon2012: 60 or 70 student athletes have affirmed that they're Penn Staters. Silas Redd quitting means he never was.

Not trying to pick a fight here as USC knows what it is like to get hosed by the NCAA but we had 6 guys transfer from USC when the NCAA lowered the boom on us. It is unfortunate that you guys are getting penalized for something that involved none of the current players or coaches. It's why the NCAA is dispised on many campuses throughout the US.

All that said, it doesn't make Silas Redd any less a Penn State player because he wants to showcase his talent on a big stage and wouldn't have that opportunity with you guys this year.

You secretly love Joe and everything about him ... it's the only explanation.

Except for him being a conservative. Joe + Jay's politics = sneaky's dream person.

A lot of the football fun has been taken out of me for numerous reasons. Maybe when the season starts I'll feel different. I'm not even excited for the season and that's the first time that's ever happened.

How can you NOT be pumped for this season??? Seriously...

And he ran way like a scared little girl while leaving his teammates high dry. There is no room for people like that. You learn the most about a person when things get tough, the strong rise and weak run and hide.

This is so funny and ironic.

captain and leader all year are proven to be disingenuous.

I feel like the better way to put it is that he was a good teammate, and knew what to say to the right people.

Great leaders lead, and Silas has been anything but a leader since the sanctions.

As much as I don't fault Silas and think he had to make whatever decision he felt was best, he is no longer a Penn State player, so this argument makes no sense. He went from being a Penn Stater to not being one. That's less in my book. He's not less of a person, but he's certainly less of a Penn Stater.

I prefer them to be themselves and not pretend to be anything else. People may hate me but I am who I am. If I think something is wrong for an OSU player then it is wrong for a PSU player. Can't stand thatany here think otherwise.

I understand that, but its a completly pointless argument. Asking a fan of a team to not have a bias is like telling sugar not to be so sweet. Thats sports. When my player does well he is the best player ever, and also when he performs poorly he is the worst player out there. Its a waste of time.

You are the one who basically said PSU fans are in a league of their own

EDIT: I do think most are different, but when you only want to consider the outliers it's tough to have a reasonable conversation with you. Every site has their outliers unless you are the pitt board ... then your outliers are the reasonable ones.

Sorry, on PSU message boards I don't see them as outliers.

What is wrong with SOME OF YOU. He is a 20 year old kid who transferred into a better situation. USC is overall a better team then PSU. For you guys saying Sias doesn matter, you are delusional. Of course he does or you wouldn't be so upset writing these classless comments. If your 21 years old+ writing some of these comments you need help.

This. If you were twenty years old and arguably the #1 team in the country wanted you on their team located in Los Angeles you would stay on the most hated college football team in America with no postseason? I respect tremendously the top recruits that are staying, but cmon, think of some of the bs PSU fans are hearing from judgemental fans, can you imagine what jokes and hatred the players are hearing?!?

An asshole who speaks his mind and isn't afraid to share opposing views. My opinions on things don't change when PSU is involved. They are either ok for all or not.

If you had an open transfer "window" every year, this would happen to every team every year even without the sanctions. Congrats Redd, I won't root for USC, but I will still root for him. It's a great oppurtunity to step into the starting job at a great school who has a very good chance for a MNC. He is WAY better than McNeal who is a 7th round NFL pick, maybe. I would have loved him if he had stayed, but I still like him as he goes. No one has mentioned this, but can you blame a kid who doesn't want to associated with Penn State? I don't know what all factored into his decision but awful things happened here. Don't blame Redd, blame the 6 people who caused this.

You and marythud don't realize that people aren't pissed because of going to the #1 team in the country ... its the fact that he has been a major representative of penn state football and a leader. It the face of all of this he was no longer that leader.
