I really hope Zettel can add weight to get up to 270 atleast.....yea i haven't been impressed with Baublitz but he's only been playing DT for a year. Austin Johnson is the wildcard and who knows about Dowrey.

It would be nice if Johnson or Dowrey show the ability to play the 1. Jones really needs to play the 3 and Baublitz is too small for anything but the 3.

Yea - I hear what you are saying but at 6-3 325 - Jones will have to learn how to play the 1 atleast part time.....alot of the guys Zettel , Baublitz, etc are 3 tech guys.

Jones will have a year to learn how to play the 1

Yes but it is really easy to kick tackles down, especially someone like Hartman who could easily be a floater.

I agree, but if you kick someone like Hartman down after this season who plays OT? Depth is bad there this season, but in 14-15 it is downright scary.

On another note, I had thought Hartman had said earlier in an interview they were looking at him a a SDE rather than OT. I would rather see him start on O given our lack of depth there in a couple of years.

Well he knows the calls and everything, he did play it to start out this year. The problem is the style of play and DT he is translates much much much better to the three position.

A guy like Austin Johnson, who impressed a lot last year apparently, is going tog et a good shot at the one next year. I personally hope he takes it and runs with it.

Oh I know OT is thin, look who you're talking to. But that will be that way either way. I'm just saying he's an option as a floater on the OL.

I think he also said MD was bringing him in at DE, he had played DE in our camp, but they told him when they offered it was for the OL.

I wouldn't mind that if Austin Johnson is ready, and backing him up is probably Dowrey. My dream scenario would be to have Zettel start at SDE and on 3rd down passing situations play DT.

Also - I wonder if Baublitz at 6-5 285 puts on some more weight and works out at the 1 tech a little along side Austin Johnson

  • Four of those 14 DL are not scholarship players, not sure of their pedigree, but would not be counting on them for much other than depth and providing PT reps for scout team. I would argue not getting Webb and Powell this past few years may hurt if one of the DT frosh does not work out, I think one of the incoming freshmen will eventually switch to DT, kid from Georgia. Yes, but we are not operating under 85 man limit, but 65 and each of those must count, I think under 65 you will have 10-12, ideally 12, but think they will try to get by with 10, that is 5 guys for 4 positions not a complete 3 deep, but perhaps what they can afford with the need for depth at TE and WR.

    Fourteen:

    DE:
    Barnes
    Zettel
    Olaniyan
    Kerner
    Schwan
    Bars
    Sickels
    Cothran

    DT:
    Jones
    Baublitz
    Johnson
    Dowrey
    Cothren
    Gaia

That is 14 all scholarship players. Whether or not you wanted to count the incoming guys, they are on the team next year. Get ready for young kids in these sanctions. As for a 65 team, you're going to want around 10 to keep things allocation-wise right. LJ may ask, and get more, but I'd assume a target of ten.

With all the rotating that we do, I'm thinking the max will be 12. Maybe it's me, but I don't think that BOB puts a premium on the WR position. I think that is where you will really see some skimping.
