    It's not wrong to wait and see if there was any merit to the rumors as that is all they are right now. Not a single beat writer or media source has gotten a single anonymous source to validate this. Think about it, nobody is willing to go on the record other then anonymous board posters. Not BWI, FOS, 247, BSD, or any paper or station in all of PA....or ESPN. Not a single one has validated these health issues. So I think it's only fair to take it with a huge grain of salt right now. Basically right now, it's either the best kept secret that only a few are in on or it's a big steaming pile of BS? If it turns out true, so be it...just not buying it and I don't feel bad for saying that.

    Here is hoping PSU wins and Joe shocks the world and does step down. If he doesn't, my life will go on.

    You and others have stated he would be too old and sick to coach AT ALL next year. He did not coach WELL this year, but he did coach this year.

    Because he is 84 years old. No, he is not as healthy as a 50 year old, but no 84 year old is. You and others who are convinced you have these "connections" to the program have pushed the idea that he is sicker than the average 84 year old and that apparently isn't the case. No, most 84 year olds don't travel everywhere with their doctor, but most 84 year olds aren't traveling across the midwest on business every other weekend either.

    Absolutely agree. I used to be a paying member at one of the other sites so I do know certain people have good info and are well connected. I also know that for every person who was actually well-connected with the program, there were several who WISHED they were well-connected with the program and posted a lot of BS. Remember when Jared Gaither was signed, sealed and delivered to Penn State? I ended up leaving that site because I was unable to post an opinion without getting ripped to shreds by posters like you and it quickly became unenjoyable.

    For the record, I believe Joe is 84 years old and incapable of running a major college football program. I believe the program has been in a tailspin since the mid 90's and that he should have retired after the debacales that were the 1997 and 1999 seasons. But you keep up that aggresive tone you take with any dissenters on internet message boards. After all, if you shout at people loud enough, you must be right.

    It is clear that something is wrong with Joe other then being 84. People can argue and disagree about what is wrong bit I think its a croc for someone to say other then being 84 he is OK.

    Do you or lajolla expect a public announcement if Joe were/was sick? Would you expect BWI, FOS, 247 etc. To go public with info that was wanted to be kept quiet? They would all lose their ability to get info on PSU by doing so. ESPN has contacted 2 well respected posters on BWI who mist everyone would agree have a Langione connection and those who know who they really are know they do, to go on the record as they have heard things too. Clearly nobody at PSU will do this because of the ramifications it would have on them. If Joe died of cancer tomorrow would you be surprised nobody at PSU went public and no PSU message board ever reported it before? PSU and Joe try to keep everything quiet.

    You can believe Joe is a normal 84 year old, I don't. Its clear to me something happened over the summer and got worse. I'm no insider and I'm not connected but when certain people choose to share info with me I Listen to them as they are right more then they are wrong. I don't believe Joe is on his deathbed and I don't believe some of this email but I believe he is sick and I think it should be clear to anyone.

Ok, I guess the term reporter is a joke or very few are willing to stick their neck out to break a story like Paterno had three mini strokes? Not a single TV station or reporter anywhere would be willing to do this, not one? Nobody here is saying he is all there or is fit to be a coach. Saying there was a bunch of exaggerations in that email isn't a stretch as of right now. Every single newspaper, website, and newstation in the country is afraid of Joe and losing their media credentials for breaking a factual story. Just a few anonymous folks know about this and someone like Dave Jones would never go forward with a huge story like that. I don't think for a second they would hold a public announcement, but if Joe did indeed suffer from some strokes, I have my doubts as to it not getting out. I also have my doubts as to any Doctor letting someone who would be prone to another stroke run around a football field yelling and screaming at his players. It would be IMO bordering on criminal as he is much more likely prone to another much more severe stroke if in fact he did have 3 smaller ones. Sorry pete, but until a credible site, reporter, or poster comes out with something...I'm not buying this particular email.

    I'd agree with that. My only point was that email was a bit exaggerated IMO. If those rumors were true, someone would have picked it up by now. This isn't the HC at Lehigh, it's big enough for someone to run with if it had any legs IMO.

  • I've gotten numerous emails about this whole Dungy to PSU thing AND now apparently 93.7 The Fan yinzer sports talk is talking about it today.

    Why is this thing re-growing legs a week after its inception AFTER the Sue Paterno thing largely debunking the majority of it?

    I'm not taking it as if you don't believe me personally. I'm just saying that just because it hasn't been reported by a major news outlet doesn't mean it's not true. We all know there have been plenty of things that happened during Joe's tenure at PSU that went unreported, but they still happened.

    I can understand why some don't believe things, especially this. However, I just don't see how anyone can look at Joe and not think he is sick. Especially compaqring him to himself say 9 months ago.

    Sue Paterno debunked nothing. Again, would you expect her to say Joe is sick? If Joe is sick, nobody, especially Sue, would go public saying anything else but that Joe is fine. You can believe he is not sick, but, just cause Sue said he isn't doesn't mean a thing. Just like me saying he is sick doesn't mean a thing.

    Cowherd did not really report anything. I listened to him live as I was picking up some lunch and just happened to catch it for some odd reason. He said he couldn't validate the emails he is getting about Dungy and PSU. He said he has no clue to whether it was true or not. People were emailing him and asking him about it and it ended right there with him pretty much saying...no comment. That part of this I could see as Dungy could be on a wish list and with Vandy and Scrap looking around, I'm assuming there is some whispers going around as to the future. That is just a total guess on my part though.

    In fact, I'd say Joe might keep his illness quiet from Sue, too. He's a proud man, doesn't want her to worry, the whole bit. But that is all speculation.

    What did Cowherd actually report? That the rumors existed, or that he heard it himself? <--- Question answered...thanks.

    I dont think its is reporters are afraid to break the story. . . I think its more their bosses will not allow them to go public without a legit source who is willing to go on the record. . . and that is where the problem is.

    I will say this Pete, you are more right than wrong.

    The most credible source for about a decade now in terms of real insider information...gentlemen by the name of Ed just blew up the whole JoePa deathbed stuff CA. I've been around since Phil and Tom were on plotit going back 14-15 years now.....and Ed is probably seen as the most credible "insider" around. He basically said Joe isn't sick, there were no strokes at all and who ever is floating this stuff around is full of it. People can believe who they want to or say what they want to....I just happen to believe Ed over pretty much anyone out there.

    Is the admin looking outside or making moves...quite possibly, but the other stuff is apparently pure fiction IMO.

  • How should I put this. You're faith in Ed is well founded, he is one of the more "connected" people I know. His information is current and is indeed of the inside nature, very much so. Something else you should be aware of, I also happen to know Ed, and he knows me. He is very much aware of what I know and how I know things, we'll just leave it at that.
