Sean- Mr Williams?

  • Sean,
Have you had a chance to speak with Brent Williams again this week? I know you probably don't want to be hounding him too much, but... I was curious, he said in his interview that BOB was checking with the compliance office of the ncaa to determine if he would be able to meet with Mr Williams off site this week in the NE area, near their home while preparing for his playoff game... any decision on when, or if they can meet?

  • I don't think that can happen in a dead period, but I'm not sure if the recruits parents initiate the contact what the outcome is. Next week could seem likely IMO.

  • Yeah, its a unique situation I would think with Brent Williams being a Patriot alumni... if he just happened to stop by his old teams football offices this week and "bumped" into BOB... what could they say about that? I am sure the last thing we need to do is get off with a ncaa recruiting issue, but it sure would help to put Mr Williams at ease if he could meet BOB in person in their area... maybe even talk to a few people he knows around the Pats building in Foxboro to see what they have to say about O'Brien...

  • Please don't skirt the recruiting rules here BOB.

I understand some guys in the conference (i.e. Hoke and Douchebag) have the off chance of "bumping into recruit X's parents" at some supermarket in a small town in between the respective parties homes, but that's not what we do. We're Penn State.

Recruit the right way, and we'll get the right kind of kids in the program. Kids and parents looking to find ways around the rules to meet with coaches are a problem for the program.

  • Mr. Williams has gotten no word back from O'Brien yet on the compliance issue. Expects to hear back at the end of the dead period.

Probably a safe move. It's only two more days. Would be nice to see BOB make a ride to see them at home on Friday, but I get that he's gotta game prep.

Thankfully it doesn't sound like he's trying to. Checking in with the NCAA before doing anything is a very smart move.

My thoughts exactly. If he can somehow squeeze in a trip to that Mass. duo around his game planning, I would be ecstatic and I think that would speak volumes about him and how badly he wants them at PSU.

  • I know for a fact that Hoke and company came to Pickerington central and spoke with a junior prospect who they offered during a period of time when Juniors were off limits. their excuse for showing up was to look at a few seniors as possible walk ons next year.

they're only 20 mins away, i don't see why he wouldn't be able to swing a couple hours.
